Recently had sort of a “contact lens crisis”. My local grocery store was out of my usual solution, which is the Alcon Opti-Free Express that I am reviewing, so I decided to grab something different. I picked up a solution by Bausch and Lomb, figuring I couldn’t go wrong there. WOW was I wrong. I had a HUGE reaction to the new solution - I had nasty little bumps underneath my eyelids that were oozing goo all over the place. I was, of course, chastised by the optician. I really didn’t have any idea that this could happen, but there it is. It was at this point that I really learned to appreciate Alcon Opti-Free Express.
This fairly new version of the original Alcon Opti-Free allows you to get your lenses really clean without the extra step of having to use another solution. The solution contains polyquad and aldox, which are patented ingredients that basically destroy bad germs. This is also what they call a “no rub” solution. Here’s how you do it:
1) Wash your hands! (Always!)
2) Fill your storage container with Alcon Opti-Free Express.
3) Carefully remove each lens.
4) Over your sink, gently squeeze the solution over the contact lenses, rinsing them off.
5) Gently place each lens in the correct spot in you storage container and close the lid tight.
6) Leave lenses in there over night, or for at least six hours, to give them enough time to soak in the solution.
7) Put them back in the next day - they will feel nice and clean, like a fresh pair.
I have been a contact lens wearer for quite a long time and this is by far the best solution I have found. Don’t make the mistake of switching to an unknown solution for the sake of convenience! Stick with what you know is good for you. This solution does the trick with minimal hassle.
