This movie confirms what I already knew about Bollywood movie writers. That they don’t have a creative bone in their body.

Why do we Indians insist on aping Hollywood to an extent that even the not-so-good movies of there have to be copied-exact?

Read the synopsis of a Hollywood movie below, then tell me if it is not the same as ’Alag’ (get it? - SAME AS ALAG)

------------------------------------

Because teenager Jeremy Reed has skin that’s literally as white as snow, everyone calls him "Powder". He also has extraordinary powers: telekinesis, telepathy, and an incredibly high IQ, a condition caused when lightning struck his mother during her pregnancy. She died after the accident, and since then Powder’s grandfather has locked him in the basement, hiding him from all mankind. But after his guardian dies, the newly discovered lad goes to a school for troubled boys. Here, Powder’s special gifts finally reveal themselves for better or for worse. Although two teachers and a pretty girl have befriended him, Powder will never enjoy an easy life, for he is truly a stranger in a strange land.

------------------------------------

Only that ’Powder’ was released in 1995 (above synopsis is from https://rottentomatoes.com). I guess the filmmakers take us stupid Hindi movie watchers to be really short on memory too.

Now my peeves with the movie:

1) Despite being incredibly smart this character and his father has never heard of sunglasses to protect from sun?

2) Jayant Kriplani’s rude behavior is explained away by his daughter to be a result of his wife’s comatose situation ... anybody ?

3) Stupid bullies who pick on our hero for no reason at all - OK lets say they do it because he looks different - still, after having witnessed his ’powers’ they should at least stayed out of his way.

My biggest problem still is the intellectual laziness of our movie writers in coming up with original stuff. I am willing to put any originally written movie - even if I don’t like it - far above this plagiarized nonsense.
