First of all, for all those who have been to the place there are two joints with the same name. The first one which is already reviewed above is the one which sells shawarmas and other misc items, the second, also owned by the same family just a couple of yards away, is THE place you want to go if you wish to experience food like never before. Hardcore non veg lovers read carefully.

When I first hunted the place down, as I usually do with restaurants that are hidden away from mega advertisements of self proclaimed goodness, it was because of an obscure article in some newspaper, where the eater(the journo) paid to eat was eulogising about the marvels of butter chicken here. The two words that did catch my attention however was the fact that the writer claimed that the checfs at Al Bake used to add bone marrow extracted from chicken bones to the gravy of there butter chicken for that additional punch to the tastebuds!! I have honestly not heard of that before but it was a novelty which needed to be certified by taste.

The gravy prepared was indeed marvellous and to the wife in two it was nothing less than manna!! a chicken lover she howver found the mutton burra more exquisite. As usual I disagreed and invited some nasty glares, but still the butter chicken was far superior.

The gravy is light and mildly colored, not heavily laden with tomatoes as in the other street side joints. Its well spiced and the boneless version pairs up marvellously with boiled rice. Excellent value for money too.

For the vegies I recommend the corn khumb (mushroom) a variant I havent seen too many places and prepared with heart an soul. Another interesting item was the Mutton dish with sabut green chillies. Light, packed with flavors, and not too oily. All in all, a perfect place to gorge on good food, as long as you dont mind the surroundings. Located at New Friends Colony market, easily connected, a grat find for the food lover
