Sonakshi Sinha’s Akira did a decent business at the box office on Tuesday despite starting slow at the box office.

Sonakshi Sinha’s Akira, which released on September 2, did a decent business at the box office on Tuesday despite starting slow at the box office. The movie received mixed reviews from the critics and fans alike which affected its run at the box office. But still Akira has managed to register a steady number for itself.

One of the major reason for this is Sonakshi Sinha and her power-packed performance which is pulling the cart slowly towards a decent total at the box office.

Akira, which collected Rs. 5.15 crore on the opening day, saw a marginal increase towards the weekend. And the weekdays, which decide the fate of every movie and its run in theatres, also turned out to be in its favour as it was the solo big release in the week. Cinegoers chose to spend their money which added to its total box office collections till now. So far, Akira has minted Rs. 22.45 crore in five days of its release.

Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared Akira box office collections on Twitter. He wrote, “#Akira Fri 5.15 cr, Sat 5.30 cr, Sun 6.20 cr, Mon 3.40 cr, Tue 2.40 cr. Total: ? 22.45 cr. India biz.”

Going by the numbers and the interest of the people, the movie is expected to earn around Rs. 1.50 – 2 crore on Wednesday.

Made at an approximate budget of Rs 30 crore, Akira is a remake of south Indian hit Mouna Guru with one big change — the original hero has been replaced by heroine in the Hindi remake.

Akira also stars Anurag Kashyap playing the antagonist in the film.
