Hi All,
My simple words of advice to you!!!---avoid any akai product like plague!!!!!!!...let me tell you my experience. I bought the Akai DVD 2 months back and have played exactly 5 movies on it before it went kaput.
I bought this smart looking DVD player from AKAI after a lot of hardsell by GIRIA's in Bangalore ( Avoid them, they are useless). The 2nd month the player went kaput it just went blank totally when I was watching a movie the CD was stuck and the player went dead..Iran to the dealer Girias who instead of being helpful almost ridiculed me for coming to him for help their manager one Mr. Tiwari was extremely rude to me and my dad and refused any help. After losing my cool totally the salesman promised to help.
Next day he gave us the number of a service center which was non existent and these jokers were willing to give away my new DVD player to a service center which wasnt authorised. We took the matter into our hands retreived the DVD player and called up AKAI helpline number I would like to say these clowns had no idea what they were doing and kept promising us for 3 days that '' Sir the problem is being attended to and the service person will come to your house within 24 Hours''.
Promptly a guy turned up the next day without his tools and without even a screwdriver and after scratching his head for 20 minutes left promising to come again and never turned up.
We even contacted the RM of Akai who promised help which never happened. If a RM can't help who else can?
Finally went and dropped my player at their service center at the other end of the town.
Its been 5 days now and its still not back they have promised to send it to us by tomorrow, but I have my fingers crossed.
My advice to all you guys is avoid Akai and check for other products.and also avoid GIRIA like plague and go to a small dealer who is more receptive.
If you know anybody from AKAI please tell them to get their act together otherwise they will not survive in India considering the competition.
Thanks
Raghav
