It is so sad but so true...

A woman gifted with Ashwaria's looks could have made better use of it , rather

than playing a coy Hindi film Heroine. Now that she has confirmed acting to be her

career ,it leaves one with nothing else to say than that its definitely

a wrong choice for many reason

Being endowed with such stunning looks she had no trouble filling in to the role

of the regular glam girl. While every actor even greats like Mr Bachhan matured with the struggle they had to undergo to establish themselves, Ashwaria never matured as an actress.Her cakewalk in every aspect of her life probably is to be blamed if not her. Where as Sushmitamatured in to a fine actress from her wooden performance in her first film, Ash has remained far far behind.

As Ash nears the post 35 phase of her life I fear that she would need to use more than her extraordinary physical assets to keep up her popularity. As is clearly visible in the last crop of film she has starred......... her poor acting skills are becoming all the more prominent with the once youthful charm now dwindling.

I would love to say a few words in her praise. She has the most extraordinary PR skills that I have see in an actress…..and has used her connections extremely well. She deserves being Miss World for that only .Whether all other Miss Worlds and Universes have lost that identity. she has still retained that charming identity in the public memory. She is definitely talented But as I pointed out she has chosen to be an actress which again is not just about PR. There is more to it.

Films like BRIDE AND PREJUDICE,MISTERSS OF SPICES show well that she is more of a director's doll and her performances vary with the ability other director to bring the character out of her..... the later ones do not come even close to being called worthwhile

As far as Umrao jaan is concerned ….. I doubt the director’s sensibility in choosing the oft called “the world’s most beautiful woman” as a dusky girl. And I doubt she has shoulders strong enough to display the subtle emotions that are associated with one who is not considered beautiful and rejected.

Looking back I would say JEANS survives with I good music, shots in fantastic locales etc….ash survived with her ravishing looks only

The later hits as a bong belle (RAINCOAT, DEVDAS,HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM,CHOKHER BALI)…well she does look good but where is the tender eyes of the bong woman. Tanuja(actress kajol’s mom) was the perfect bong woman if there was any…she could give Bengali actress a run for their charms. Ash has beautiful ethereal eyes no doubt but the pride, the love that are all in the eyes of the Bengali woman is ever absent.

So I feel will be the fate of Umraao –jaan.It will be a gory display of glamour sans feelings ….a film about sexual passions not emotions.

Hindi film directors think that film is all about glamour and no wonder actresses like Ashwaria survive….Film making is not just slapstick humour and glossy glamour. This also the reason why out of 500 films that are made every year ,only five stand the test of time sometimes even only one. The looks change, fashions change…what survives is feeling and emotions.

If a movie can appeal to the emotions of the masses on then only can it survive and so she will.

She is extraordinarily beautifuland that alone gives her the leverage she needs. Sometimes I feel that many roles if given to better actresses instead of Ashwaria would have done justice to it. Anyways she still remains the love and adoration of many and I hope she remains so.
