Whatever happened to Airtel Pune?!. Review on Airtel Mobile Operator

When they launched, they said they had the widest coverage....maybe they still have....but what about connectivity???

My 2 friends got Airtel Postpaid connection a month ago....and their cells dont get the signals even in their homes!! one stays in the heart of the city, and one on the outskirts (but coverage was promised there!) The handsets should not be a problem since one is nokia 2100 and one is panasonic gd90...both work great with my IDEA SIM!

Plus, they charged one of my friends for incoming too when he was on roaming in mumbai (the home network is maharashtra; and when asked initially, they said incoming was free even for roaming!)

Is this because of growing customer base and network congestion or whatever reason...but it's not good...

My IDEA connection had some probs earlier, always used to be ''network busy'', but now it's fine, they acquired more bandwidth...hopefully airtel do something like that...but seems their problem is of signal strength rather than network congestion...God help them!

Even BPL has got much better now...almost as good as IDEA...a friend got BPL recently and the plan he got is really good and he's very happy with it...

Also, when my friend wanted details of his usage (a detailed bill), he was asked to visit airtelworld.com, which only logged him in but did not show the bill! And they could not give the bill details even at Airtel Customer Care Center! the Customer Care Executive wasnt very prompt at service either!

The usage of my friend was over Rs 400/- in the first month, and they asked him to pay up in order for the service to continue, even before he got a proper bill! What the hell! They say this is the usage limit for all new customers, which is lifted after 6 months... Thats Bull Shit!! They did not mention anything of it in the billing plan!

And to pay it up they gave 7 days time, and everyday they sms'd about it atleast twice!! Why are they so desparate even after taking all the address and income proofs?!!

And how much service ads they sms you!! This contest and that contest..it's so stupid...IDEA is much better...

Seems the 2 established networks are back again (IDEA is AT & T, and BPL were the only 2 networks in pune earlier). Airtel better strap up its shoelaces now!
