Penalised for choosing airtel

I chose airtel postpaid on recommendation from colleagues, when I moved from Chennai to Mumbai and I have been penalised terribly for it.  All this because I spoke beyond the so called limit.  The limit was never communicated to me in the first place when I chose my plan.  As I spoke for the first 500 Rs, I was asked to pay 500 Rs. more to increase my limit, I do that and what happens, I cross my limit and then asked to pay more again, while I pay my extra monies, My line is disconnected and I have to wait the so called'4 hours' limit to get reconnected.

48 hours back, I managed to cross my limit again(which I assumed at that time)  and that too when I was travelling.  I reach chennai from Mumbai, and what do I find, I cannot use my airtel connection at all.  the phone shows that I can make emergency calls, and that does not include airtel customer care, mind you.  so, I use my other connection, which is hutch and try to call airtel customer care, I call 20 times in vain, the call gets disconnected, only after I go through the entire rigmarole of typing some thousand numbers.  I go to sleep, the next morning, I try again, the never give up person that I am. NO, the saga continues.  I just use my other connection to connect to the world.  In the evening at 6.36 pm, I manage to go to an airtel centre and ask what the problem is,  they say you have crossed your limit, what is that I have to pay - 1000 Rs.  I paid it and get a reciept - this doesnt have the time, my debit card recpt has it.  so I have proof.  They say in 4 hours I will have my line up.  OK. thanks.   Does it happen.you guessed it right.it doesnt.

The next day, I switch my phone some 100 times, and check if my luck is any better, NO.  I call, register a complaint at around 12 noon, the customer care person, agrees that it is their problem and is SORRY, I am assured that the line will be up in 4 hours.  Again.  Nevertheless, I take my flight to Mumbai and hope that the line will gets restored.  NO. I call once again at 4.45, register a complaint, and I am told 4 Hours, again.  I call at 7.30 and I am told by a very helping Customer care person that he is connecting it online, as he speaks to me and all I have to do is switch my phone off in 15 minutes and try again.  Oh! how I believed him.    But was my belief reciprocated, NO.

I try again at 9.30 pm, I am told that they have already seen my complaints twice and they will correct it in 4 hours.  I blow my top now.  I tell them that I am going to wirte a review and will also send a complaint.I am sorry maam, I am really sorry maam, is what I hear again and again and again.  and the inevitable 4 hours that the customer service person is trained to promise.  OH! I am so fed up.   The money was taken 28 hours back and I am yet to get my line back.  I dont know how many clients were trying to reach me, how many friends were trying to reach me.  Thanks to airtel and its inefficient system.

I use Hutch, Tata Indicom and in the past used BSNL, all without a single problem.

I dont know whether I should continue with airtel, and if I continue, should I speak on it or be conscious of my limit forever and get my line disconnected and talk to the customer service officers who have no authority to solve the problem or cannot answer any question beyond what they are trained for.

Let me see.

Oh! and I forgot, I would have written all this to a customer care id on the airtel website, If it was easy for me to find.

Anyone from airtel reading this - you may have recorded the customer care calls, I too have done it. so that I have some proof of what I have gone through.  Mental agony.thats the word that comes to my mind.   I cursed airtel a couple of times when I spoke to my friends and they too agreed - mind you the are airtel users.   Now that I have written all this, I feel slightly better.I am not giving up.  I am switching my phone off one last time for the day to see if the proverbial 4 hours has given airtel enough time to correct the situation.
