Couple of years ago, I was on Airtel network. Due to customer care issues I switched to Vodafone. I should have learned my lesson! Now, due to moving to an area where Vodafone had a network issue, I wanted to try back Airtel, forgetting my earlier bad experience.
On 6th June 2014, I applied for a Mobile Number Portability form Vodafone to Airtel network at the Airtel Relationship Centre in Mysore near Shatala theatre. I filled up and signed the necessary forms, provided my photographs and other supporting documents. They mentioned that if I submit my Vodafone bill then the security deposit would be weived. I said as I did not have it immediately, I would go home and mail them the same and requested their mail id whcihc they provided as - arc.322@in.airtel.com. On the same day i.e., 6th June 2014 I mailed them the bill.
Their mail read rcpt is below -
Your MNP for document: was Arc 322/Support/India/Airtel received by: at: 06/06/2014 13:28:52
I didn't hear anything from them for some time. On 11th June 2014, I sent a mail asking the status but till date I did not get any response form them.
I called up Vodafone cal center and they said there was no issue from their side for the portability and that every thing was clear. When chandru021ed up the Airtel call center, they said that they had not rcvd any documents or that the ARC people had not updated.
I mailed this issue to 121@in.airtel.com and today(20th June 2014) I get a call from them saying asking the details about my documents. Subsequently, the ARC person calls up asks about my mail with the Vodafone bill. She said she tried calling me twice but couldn't get through. If that was true, then why was I not contacted through mail? Why was there no response for my second mail asking about the MNP status?
Such a horrible response of Airtel! Its purely their arrogance of being a big corporate and the belief that they are above all! It purely demonstrates how insignificant customers are for them!
I had 3 numbers in Airtel and I have moved out all three. I have 2 DTH connections and one dongle too of Airtel and I shall discontinue those to shortly. Why do I have to pay more to get such filthy service!
They are a huge disappointment! When I wrote to the customer care for discontinuing my Airtel data card they replied back saying they are sorry that I am porting out and gave me the procedure for MNP! This clearly demonstrates that they dont even bother to read the mails sent to them and they just mechanchandru021y work on options!
I have the trail mail and the read receipts of the interactions with them and have a mind of sharing it with others like Vodafone, Idea, Docomo, etc.
For all of you out there - If you can, then do avoid getting on the Airtel network!
