Airtel - billing and service discrepancy

I have been using an Airtel Mobile postpaid connection/subscription since the very outset of Airtel in West Bengal basically in Kolkata circle. Since then, I had never any issues with billing. After launch of 3G service in Kolkata, I opted for 3G network and the matter started then.


I used Nokia N8 which has a full touch screen. It had lots of games which my daughter used to play while myself being at home. Few of them were ad sponsored games. During October, unknowingly my daughter used to touch on the ad banners and within a second the default web browser of the phone opened and instantly an sms came just after saying that "Thank you for downloading Java games. You have been charged Rs. 99/-". There were no option for confirmation before such download.


When the bill came in November, I called up the Customer Care and narrated the true story. I got a refund of around Rs. 350/- that time. I asked them to deactivate such kind of services immediately. I got the confirmation sms that it had been deactivated. Since then, whenever I used to give my phone to my daughter for game, I turned off the Net service.


In December, I again received bills with such download charges even though the service was confirmed to have been deactivated. I just did not pay the sum and cleared the actual balance bill. In January, when I received the bill for the period from 11-12-2011 to 10-01-2012, I was stunned to see that along with such JavaGame download charges, there are few such charged like subscription to HungamaClub, GameClub etc. for which I had been charged Rs. 5/-, 3/- per day and Rs. 30/-, 20/- etc. totaling an amount of Rs. 526/-. I immediately called up the Customer Care and told them that despite deactivating the service, how could such charges come up? They were not very accurate in answering except giving some baseless reasoning. I told them there were some refunds in the similar case in November, but of no use. They took a request for such refund although did not assure. Shortly I received a call and was told that no refund would be possible. It was reconfirmed with a second call. I left the issue and paid the full amount only with a decision either for surrendering the number or opting MNP.


This is the situation with a brand with whom I had been for such a long journey. I had to pay for what there was no actual usage. I had to pay for what was already deactivated. The number is important to me so I am presently converting it to prepaid subscription. However, my so long trust is hampered badly.
