Its with much happiness I write this review. It all started one rainy afternoon when during a business call my call just terminated and I was unable to make a return call to my client.
I kept trying and was unable to call out despite repeated tries. I thought maybe the network had developed a prob .
Evening time comes and situation is unchanged. I then decided to head down to the orange showroom to see if there is a problem with the network. there I was rudely informed you have not paid... I was like wtf.....
I am on auto debit on my cc and payment goes through fine every month. Just to be sure I called up my credit company ( sbi gold card ) to make sure the payment had gone through. They confirmed that the payment had gone through well in time. Armed with this info the next morning I went back to get my outgoing started up again. This time they had the updated records and started it up again.
A week passes... I call them up as I had to travel out of the city and needed my roaming activated. they said fine 4 hrs.
I leave the city .... but no roaming even after 48 hours. I somehow manage to get my colleague to call them and he says .... I have to put in a deposit ...
This despite the fact my deposit was in place for international roaming and I had used in the past without issues. Now suddenly they had misplaced my deposit details and wanted me to prove if I had ever paid.
So I come back from my trip much frustated ( I had to take a prepaid card to keep myself alive on my trip ) . I go down to trash it out they say sir .... your details have been a bit scrambled . Please give us time to sort it out.
i wont bother the reader with further more. You can see where this is going .... they could not find my details and that was that I decided to ditch them after I had shown the receipt of my 5k deposit.
I was initially wondering if I should take airtel or bpl. What won me over on airtel was the fact that its less crowded as compared to bpl and orange and hence calls are more easily able to get through
I have taken the airtel gold service 64 k sim inclusive service and till now not facing a prob.
Excellent voice quality very good coverage ( not on par with orange but about 95 percent there ) . I am able to reach my people with the first call unlike orange where one has to try 2-3 times in the crucial evening time before it connects.
Their roaming rates and plans are similar so I wont comment on that.
Their billing is fine too. No issues after a month of usage . In fact more than anything I am happy as even during strained network times im normally able to get through fine.
All in all a very pleasant experience far removed from orange's wacked customer systems.
