Airtel has grown too big too fast. They don't know how to cope with so many subscribers. I have been a post paid subscriber since 2000. There service used to be good. But now, every single month for the last 6 months, I have faced inumerable problems, despite being such an old customer and paying all bills on or before time. In fact I have two connections, as well as a landline from Airtel.

-They disconnect your phone without any plausible reason.

-They want you to pay interim bills halfway through the month if your billing goes above a certain amount, and they refuse to furnish any details of the calls for this purpose.

-They un-subscribe you for no reason from add on facilities like international roaming...and you only find out when you land in some other country. To remedy this, you have to make an international call to their call centre

-To get through to their call centre, you have to try for at least 1 hour, unless you call at 1AM.

-They have become like a public sector unit, where the customer's concerns are not important. They know that being an old subscriber, you would not like to change your number and therefore you are locked in. No one can be held accountable. Each person you talk to passes the buck on to another department, who pass the buck back. They remind me of how MTNL was before

-They have become too bureaucratic, unable to respond quickly to any concern.

I could go on and on, but my recommendation to anyone getting a new connection would be to definitely NOT subscribe to Airtel.
