I wanted to know more about Airtel DTH hence called their customer care. After trying for 3 times, finally I got connected to some customer care executive.
I asked about the video output(s) supported by the set top box. But to my utter surprise, he even didn't understand my question, leave alone answering it. His answer was that the technician will come to my house and do the installation so I should not worry about this and I need to connect a cable from my STB to the TV for the video output. I requested him to connect me to some technical guy so that he can help me. After speaking to 3-4 different persons,
I realized that there is no one in the customer care who knows about their own STB. They all told me that the video output is MPEG4 but I was expecting whether it supported component-out or not. Since this was not in their jargon list, they didn't knew about this and kept on repeating MPEG4 technology. When I asked the full form of MPEG4, he disconnected the line.
When I asked the same question to Tatasky folks, they gave me the right answer. So I was left wondering if some problem comes up in future with Airtel DTH, where would I go? Hence I decided to buy Tatasky connection and not to waste my time with Airtel.
