I have been a customer of Airtel Broadband and am quite satisfied with that. Based on the same I thought of trying out Airtel DTH and ventured for the 1500 Airtel Xtream box offer.
Little did I know it was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. These people are very greedy and very cruel. For few months I made the monthly payment and used OTT mainly as not much time for TV shows etc. Then I decided to stop using cable but play OTT content through other subscriptions I had.
What I found out was that their xtream box for which they charge minimum 1500 Rs. upfront has become as box of garbage and will NOT work unless you pay them Rs. 150 plus per month. This is even if you dont want to watch any of the cable channels and just OTT or even just youtube.
Your 1500 Rs are just wasted and they demand 150 Rs or just shut down the box.
Then I asked for refund with return of the box and raised the matter till the nodal head. Nobody even had the courtesy to respond for a fortnight flouting all norms of decency. When they did respond, they denied the refund under some legal mumbo jumbo contract even after explaining that they were mis=selling and violating MRTPC act by compelling customer to use their cable service to use free OTT or Youtube content for a device he paid separately for.
My ordeal didn't end then. After this, suddenly their cut-throat tele-sales team started calling and harrasing which has been going on for weeks - calling me at odd hours asking to get the service reactivated even in threatening tone. Complaining to them has fallen to deaf ears. Asking them to cancel my service completely and remove my details has also not been complied with.
This is taking a psychological toll on me and I fear I will now have to file criminal complaint against their nodal team for the harassment being meted out and not cancelling and removing my private details from their tele-sales team despite asking repeatedly.
This is why your data is not safe at all with Airtel DTH . Avoid it at all costs.
