My Airtel DTH customer ID is 3000704663.


I bought a new HD LCD TV to watch HD channels. I paid Rs. 2250 to upgrade to the HD set top box. Airtel was prompt in calling me to get the money. The next day the Airtel technician came and installed the set top box. Then the problem started. The quality of the channels were worser than the normal set top box. I tried adding the HD channels and got an SMS back that it could not be added. I called up the customer care on 24th June. They said, the antenna direction has to be changed to point to Sat2 to receive HD channels and it would take 5 days for them to do that. I agreed and waited till 28th June. I called up on 29th June to confirm if they will complete it. But now the customer care executive said a different story. She told that there is no need to change the antenna direction and the HD channels will start working by 11pm. I waited till next morning but the HD channels were not working. I called up on 29th June and this time I had to raise my voice to let them know that they have crossed their time limit. Now the customer care executive says, the antenna direction has to be changed and the technician would come and do it by 3pm. I waited till 4pm. Nothing happened. I called them up again and said I want to speak to their manager. I was connected to Ms. Asila. I explained her the story from the beginning and demanded my money back since I am not getting HD channels after paying Rs.2250 for the set top box. I questioned why I should pay so much if I am going to get only normal channels. She promised me that she would take it up personally and would complete it by 6pm. After sometime a technician called me for the address. I asked him to come by 6pm since I was at office. I left early from the office to reach home by 6pm. I waited till 7pm. The technician didn't turn up. I called his mobile at least 10 times between 6 to 7 but he didn't pick up the call. I got fed up and called customer care and asked them to connect me to Ms. Asila. After a long wait, the the executive said they cannot connect me to her. That was the limit for me and I asked them to disconnect my Airtel connection and wanted a complete refund. They told they are raising a request(again!) and somebody will contact me by July 15th. They also refused to tell me how much money will be refunded. Then I realized that, this is not the way to speak to these people and have started the procedure through Consumer court. This is clearly a scam where they sell an incomplete product to the consumers.


In case any of you have decided to buy Airtel DTH make sure that the technician who comes to install the set top box does change the antenna direction as well. Add the HD channels right there and don't leave him until the channels start working. Once they leave, they won't come back since they get only Rs.20 for a HD channel and they don't want to waste their time for you. They may wait until they get many requests from the same area to finish everything together.
