After requesting my local cable vendor for six months for set top box and good service, I finally fed up and decided for a DTH connection. For me DTH is a need rather than a choice!
Then I started my week long research on all the DTH packages and offers. I ruled out Dish TV and TATA Sky as they are too costly for south Indian packages. Finally I cornerd on SUN and Airtel. I discussed with the people who are already using them and found service is ok with both of them.
The final deciding factor is, as the basic telugu package is coming to same cost with both SUN and Airtel, and I am already using an Airtel Broadband I have a 15% discount on Airtel DTH. Hmm, nice deal. Once I decided, I found that I can buy the Airtel DTH online, yeah, I can avoid the middle man (dealer). I paid the money for Rs1750 with South value pack + one regional top up on 11th August at 11pm.
The next day morning at 10 am, some one from Delhi called and asked for some details, I asked for telugu top up for regional top up. That person said that its not available in his system and asked me to check the person who is going to install the Dish and STB. I dont want to argue with him and told fine. We fixed the appointment for installation on the next day 9 am.
I got a call at 3pm on the same day from the local airtel installation executive, and asked me that whether he can install the connection then. Wow, I told him to go ahead and informed about the telugu regional top up. He said that he will take care of it. After 30 mins, my wife informed that AIrtel DTH is up and running.
I just registered my details on the website for the discount of 15% and waiting for the amount to credit to my account. Today I called the customer care and asked for English News top up and the channels are activated immediately after finishing the call with customer care. So far so good. I will update the review after one or two months about the continuity of service.
