I am an another victim of Airtel DTH cheating.My ID number is 3000058751.
I took the the connection in Oct 2008 when it was just launched in Mohali.I
got 12 months of subscription free by paying Rs 2000.I now came to know
that I did not purchased the Decoder,actually it was given on Rent!!
I got the Economy pack consisting of WORLD SPACE RADIO(very impressive
indeed) and prominent channels like Colours,Sony,NDTV Imagine,Times Now,
NDTV 24/7 and CNN IBN for monthly Rs 99+tax.
I kept enjoying till the World Space wound up its operation in Dec 2009.Airtel instead
of revising the Rental downward they found replacement in few common FTA
FM Channels!
But I did not cried Foul.
But the REAL face of AIRTEL now started surfacing.They sent SMS to my Registered
Mobile that Jan 10 onward your rental will be Rs 125+Tax!!!.I immediately called toCC
and came to know with the rental of Rs 99 they were not able to pull on their bussiness.
It was a SHOCK for me and I felt myself deceived because at the time of having
connection I was told that Rs 99 Rental is forever.
Now the Customer Care also says as per the written document signed by you they
had every right to increase the rental!!
Poor customer is handed over many pages of Terms and Conditions in smallest
possible font size.Would he ever read that?He simply trusts the verbal assurances
given by the agent.
One day, the feeling of GETTING CHEATED grew so strong that I requested for
DISCONNECTION.I was warned for this by the supervisor for this before materialising
the request.
Now I started getting calls from the local AIRTEL office.The regional manager assured
me to revert to the Rs 99 Rental provided I recharge for Rs 300.
MY BIG SECOND MISTAKE.I RECHARGED IT.
MY RENTAL WAS FIXED TO RS 115 AND SOME MY FAVOURITE CHANNELS REMOVED!!
I escalated the matter to the NODEL OFFICER Chandigarh.He just said everything is
normal!!!
