I have been using Airtel DTH (SD) service since 3 years now in Kalyan area near Mumbai and am very satisfied with the quality I am getting. Airtel DTH for me is the best provider of DTH content, even better than Tata sky which has exorbitant rates and slow addition of channels.
The best feature and USP of Airtel DTH is that it offers a universal remote, and hence you do not need separate remotes for your TV and STB. Also, the quality of STB and remote provided is far superior to any other Digital TV or DTH. The packages are reasonably priced and give good value in advance rental
Also, you can easily manage your account online and all recharges, addition and removal of channels, changing packs is hassle free. Customer Care is also very efficient and you get an sms with your complaint id immediately after calling them Channel additions are much faster compared to Tata Sky and if you are in a advance rental pack, you get the channel free if its in your subscription.
Even a simple sms is enough to add channels to your package (if you have balance in the account). The only thing which could have been better is the logo, which could be more opaque. Still it doesn't block channel content as it used.
The latest entrant Videocon D2H, is also very cost efficient, but its main drawback is a lagging interface which could cause problems. So while buying a DTH, chose between Airtel or Videcon (The rest are very exorbitant or pretty useless).
