Airtel Losing the customer base

3 months back I purchased Airtel digital TV mainly because I am using their mobile network from past 8 years.DTH Package came with 1 month free subscription of 550 something .After 1 month I wanted to change the plan because I was paying only 220 Rs for my cable operator. at max I wanted to spend around  Rs 350 monthly for DTH TV .But I didn't find any suitable plan in Airtel site.


I logged into their online service to downgrade my package but there was only upgrade option but No downgrade option (cheating #1).Then I called their customer care and asked them to downgrade my package to  4 HD channel package which costs around Rs 410  from existing 15 HD channel (apprx Rs 560).They said OK but I have to recharge my account as my balance is low even though I had balance for 2 days.I agreed and recharged it. Next day when I checked my DTH account online they have changed it to 9 HD channel (costs around Rs 472)package instead of 4 HD as I requested (Cheating #2).I called customer care and told their mistake and requested them  to change it to 4 HD    package.


They said they can't as its having lock period of 3 months(Cheating #3).Since I was busy with my work  I dropped the matter there and waited for 1 month then I called them and told If they don't change the package this time I will shift to TATA sky for that customer care representative told I  will get the call from their "blah blah..." in 1 hour as I expected I didn't receive any call .I waited for 1 day then I logged into TATA sky and placed the order for new Connection. (I lost around Rs2500 but thats Ok )


It's amazing how airtel is deciding how much customer has to spend  monthly on TV .


Why Airtel is not providing package downgrade option in online? Hardly we get to talk customer care after listening 30 mins of A R Rahman music and  even that is charged .(nice trick, keep it up Airtel).


Must beware when you call customer care in between the automated voice assistance they will give the option to subscribe new package with option '1' which user press unknowingly. Their Locking period story is good for kids not for grown ups.
