The worst sort of Internet connection

Help & Support:

I made the biggest mistake of my life my not doing research on MouthShut on Airtel Data Card. I'd read up on Reliance data cards(no Reliance for me---they're anything but reliable). Tata's Plug2Surf didn't inspire confidence either. But I was desperate for a net connection, and the prick that the guest house owner is, didn't allow me to draw a 2mm line for Tata BB connection. So I just took a shot and bought the Airtel Data Card. Rs. 5000 down the drain plus the recurring cost of the rentals--Rs. 999 pm for a UL connection. I've never regretted anything in my life till now. With the exception of buying thisĀ  crap thing they call "super-fast Internet".Clearly they haven't seen how fast broadband operates.

I was skeptical about the speed--but Airtel Data Card's speed is just plain ridiculous. I was told that initially speeds would be low, and after about a week or so, the speed would pick up. Well I've been using this piece of crap for over a month now and it's the same. Speed is pathetically slow.

Forget about surfing during day time. You'll be lucky to get 2-4KBps(oh yeah did I mention that the signal strength is FULL?). At night times, you may get speeds of 7KBps, the max that I got was a 11KBps, that too was a peak shot, lasted less than 2 seconds at around 2AM(I log everything). If you want to download something, don't forget to get a decent download manager. Torrents > 650 MB are out of the question, so much for me wanting to try out the latest Linux distros.

Believe me, no matter what they claim, don't buy this. You'll be better off NOT having an internet connection rather than having this. At least you won't be tempted to try to surf the net and get utterly and thoroughly disgusted and frustrated.
