Poor working of Micromax Airtel 3G USB modem

Help & Support:

I have a airtel 3G modem which I was told is very fast and very reliable especially since Airtel coverage is across the country. I bought the unit and began using it in the northeastern states and I found it very slow and dropping very frequently. I thought it is because of the coverage in the norheast and so I wwill wait till I get to Delhi and try it there.

In Delhi, I tried but had a problem with the usb modem. I tried to call Airtel and they said that this modem is supported by the company and so I would have to call them. I then called the Micromax people and after several tries was able to get them on the line. They were so rude and said that the problem must be a problem with your computer so we cannot do anything.

I am aware that if it is a problem with my computer then they should give me a solution for me to use it. Why should I spend over 2000 rupees to have a non working usb modem.

Airtel has no links with this company oter than to sweetly tell you to contact them. The company has some of the rudest people I have come across who have no idea what customer service is.

Finally, I went to my computer maintainance person and he fixed the problem. Having done that, my connection speeds are still very slow. Slower than 2G modems and it makes no sense to pay extra for the 3G stuff. It is all hype still.

My recommendation is that you think carefully before buying this product or wait till their service facilities and speeds have improved.
