I had two amazing incidents with Airtel.
Incident 1:
Three days ago I got a call from the no. 022-67392888 and the lady who sounded as if
she hasn't been fed for a week started off by asking if she was speaking to
"Goswami". Amazing! She constantly spoke in Marathi without asking me if I even
knew the language. No salutation, no use of first name!
Next she asked me why I wasn't recharging my DTH. When I told her that there's
no need to now because I have balance in my account she promptly disconnected
the phone. Another wow!
And since then she has given me two more missed calls. Was I supposed to call
her back?
Incident 2:
I tried calling 020-44444121 from my mobile and then 121 from my Airtel landline and the result is similar.
I'm asked to key in my mobile no. Once done I'm asked to press 1 to continue. And then a lady speaks in Marathi to inform me that the no. I dialed doesn't exist.
Can you believe it? 121 doesn't exist any more. And this is not the first time this has happened with me. In the past one week I have written three to four mails to Airtel about different issues. I got a call each time and someone mumbles sorry and then it's back to square one.
And do you know what the automatic reply says when you write to Airtel? It says "Igonre this response." Mind the spelling of ignore.
I have now given up on Airtel. Earlier my mobile, my DTH and DSL were all Airtel. I ported the mobile to Vodafone and asked them to cancel my broadband subscription. Very soon I'm going to opt for another DTH operator.
