I would would say there is too much of a hype around the airtel customer support. Based on my experience, i will suggest you to think more than twice at an airtel commitment / promise.


I had applied for airtel broadband on 10-feb-2011 and at the time of applying the airtel representative promised me to get the connection active in 3-4 working days. I was mislead by the airtel representative to believe that they have all the necessary permissions and agreement in place to enter our apartment premises and to roll out new connections. Trusting the person i filled-in the application form and paid the advance amount. A week later, i followed up with airtel customer service with the reference number and they say they have no clue of the status. I then realized that they did all the gimmicks to get the application signed and cheque given even before they met the authorities in our apartment complex. Later the association confirmed that the airtel authorities did not make a formal proposal nor sent an agreement for the association to review.


Against the application # (216458 ), there is a one-line update - work is in progress. What i am trying to understand is what was they working on all these thirty days. I wonder whether airtel is aware of something called 'business ethics'.


As on today it is one month of that fake promise. Not just that, i raised a refund request (amount paid towards application / installation charges) which they refused maintaining that i never requested a cancellation. Finally had to raise another request insisting that i do not need the connection but the refund of the amount i paid.




  1. Whenever i call up or write customer support for status, i get a canned response - "we are looking into the issue. Get back to you in 48 hours". I get the same copy-pasted reply to every mail i sent them checking status.




  2. On top of it, they go ahead and set the issue to resolved state without even checking with you. Shame-less aren't they?






I wonder why the hell they promise when they are sure they cannot deliver. I extremely unhappy with the way airtel handled this issue. Trust me, there are millions of airtel customers who share the same feeling, which has been reported in a national daily. Read on: https://tinyurl.com/47scxur
