I gave the application for Airtel Broadband + Landlibe on July 5, 2010 through one Ms.Malathi and was promised a connection within 2 days. When I had applied their call centre also confirmed that the connection in Chennai will take only 2 days time and nothing more. Connection never came and then their call centre started showing their true colours and said connection will take 7 working days and cannot be given in two days time and I should have read the conditions given in the application form.


This was my first experience of their false promises and cheating. They had encashed my cheque within a day and hence I did not have a choice than to wait. When I made a request for cancellation they sent someone who just visited tested the line availability and they wanted my wife to sign some documents which was not filled up. On refusal of signing a blank form they left the premises without installing the connection. I ahd atken up the request even up to the appellate authority but never received any reply except the auto reply for promising a resolution within a day time. Finally after a huge hue and cry I got the connection on July 15, 2010. Beware of the promises their sales team, call centre and the installation team are hand in glove and once your money is with them they do not bother about you, even if you escalate the issue.


In the application I had asked for ISD connection, but it was not activated. This issue also I had taken up with their call centre and they never responded. There was response from The nodal officer and the reply from Appellate Authority was that do not escalate complaints till Nodal officer replies. The time given here also for resolution was 1 day and no one from nodal office responded. Their offices of escalation – Nodal Officer and Appellate Authority are useless and will not help customers to get the problem resolved rather these offices try to push the complaints back to customer.


I faced the similar experience when I wanted to register the landline under NDNC to avoid unsolicited commercial calls. Airtel Call centre refused to take the request saying that it is a back end job!!!. Once I raised this up with the nodal officer they responded immediately with the registration number. They avoid taking such requests as mandated by TRAI so that it will avoid them from taking the complaints under NDNC on unsolicited commercial calls.


I had taken up the 1MBPS limited plan @ Rs.699 rent and Rs.100 worth of local calls free. I wanted to move the same to a new plan of 2MBPS limited plan @Rs.799 rent. The call centre replied that as my first bill was not generated at that time I cannot take up change of plan and need to call up once I get the bill in hand. But when I called up after the bill came they had changed me into the new plan without taking any confirmation from my end or informing me. They do whatever they like which will fetch them more money, without any request, quoting some old conversation, which may be denied to you at that time!!!


I received the first bill on August 13, 2010 and was surprised to see calls made on July 8, 2010 one week prior to the installation of my connection. Took this up with call centre on 13th itself, then to nodal officer and then to the Appeallate Authority. The call to Appeallate Authority office was attended by one Ms.Mahalakshmi and she as per her there may be turn around time given while registering the complaint at all levels but they will not be able to adhere to that. They will take their on time for resolution and she also promised a resolution within that day 6.30pm, but till now no resolution. Ater the call to Appeallate Authority, I got at least 3 calls where they deny the fact that there was any call made before installation; also they deny that there is no calls in the bill send to me also. I had sent a scan image of the bill to stop these denials. After that no calls and now the complaint (36405470) has been closed without giving me any explanation of this fraudulent activity. Please be beware of Airtel's bills they are fraudulent and they will not take any action on the same as their intention is to cheat. Now I am left with no option than to take up with consumer redressal forum.


When I took 1MBPS plan the speed as shown in speedtest.net site was 950kbps. But when I moved to 2MBPS the speed as shown in the same site is only 560kbps. This complaint is with Nodal Office and as per Mr.Aravind of Nodal Office the speed could be checked only with their own site speed tes tairtel broadband.in. That site has a prefixed speed and even before the test is completed the result will come!!!. Mr.Aravind has till now not explained why speedtest.net was shown while installation and why is it showing lower speed than at the time of installation. Also he till this time has not considered the request that new plan rates should not be implemented till the required speed is given.This complaint (36447062) also has been closed without full resolution. Please check the actual speed of the connection, they will cheat you on the same.


My overall experience is that they offer defective service, and find fraudulent ways to bill you higher. Their call centre, Nodal Office and Appeallate Authority are just ways to fool customers and will not offer any resolution. Their behaviour is rude and arrogant especially OF THOSE FROM Nodal Office and Appellate Authority - the names I had mentioned ( Aravind of Nodal Office and Mahalakshmi of Appeallate Authority office.
