On March'07 I bought a New Airtel broadband DSL connection with a Landline.., knowing the fact that airtel Broadband is one of the best Internet Service Providers in India, with awesome coverage. after using the connection for a few days, i had to move to Dubai permanently as part of a new job.. so we had to leave that particular residence, where we had this landline registered.


I asked them what would be the procedure to get it transferred to a new residence which was my relatives..as I never wanted to close it. Infant I had already paid Airtel the advance rent for upcoming 2 months, & we had hardly used the connection. The customer care asked me the new address, and said that within 7 Days they would get it installed in our new residence, however the very next day someone called from Airtel's office and said that in that new locality, airtel doesn't have the coverage, so the only option left was to get the connection de-activated. For the same, I had called the customer care number provided in there brochures, & requested for cancellation. And as a part of there excellent customer service skills & outstanding communication, they never told me that would have to either visit any of the Airtel office to give in writing for cancellation or will have to write an email. After that call I had totally forgotton about my airtel's connection. After almost 15 Days, I recieved a call saying that my airtel bill's pending, I told the representative that the connection was cancelled way back and infact I wanted to get my advance rent back... what next I was shocked to hear that there wasn't any request for the de-activation made for the landline, I got frustated. Shouted on that representative saying that they can check the usage is none and i did call to deactivate the connection, it wasn't my fault. He agreed and asked me to drop a letter at any of the outlets for the same, which I did.


After which I went to Dubai & came back after 3 months. Recently, we moved to a new house, wherein we required another Broadband connection. Being a user of Airtel, I planned to get it installed, so I called the technician, he took my details to get the activation done. The very next day he said this couldn't be done since I have already been a Bill Defaulter with Airtel which wasn't true at all..After which they gave us a connection under my Dad's name. I was frustated & moreover felt humilated hearing MYSELF-A BILL DEFAULTER!!! called their customer care..spoke with a manager and said I am surprised to see that since April'07. my account has not been deactivated, and every month a new bill is generated..even when the usage on the account is none..., I had done whatever there customer care Rep..asked me to do!! Till date they are processing my request.. I wonder how many Decades would the cancellation take


Its pretty easy to get a new connection, but its almost impossible to get it cancelled..
