I had purchased 4G hotspot on 26th Nov 2015 from infosys bangalore outlet of Airtel hoping to resolve my internet connectivity issues. Unfortunately, I am left wonder " kya yahi hai hai asli 4G?"
While buying the connection, I was told that I can get the connection with PAN card or driving license. I asked explicitly regd local address requirement. I was assured that local address is needed only for verification and I don't have to provide any proof for the same.This was reconfirmed by store employees today(4th Dec) when I visited the store with my complete. Accoridng to them, I can furnish any id proof even if the address is not local. I provided PAN and driving license both having Maharashtra address.
Address verification person visited my local address in Bangalore on 27th Nov. He spoke to my father who was home at the time.after this he called me from his cell and enquired about employer. He asked my designation.I found it odd yet I responded. Then he asked my tenure with infy. He didn't hv satisfactory answer. The Airtel employee who had come to verify the address didn’t take signature of my father on the form after collecting this information. As a consumer shouldn't I get a copy of the form he filled in after talking to my father?
I got the connection activated on Saturday 28th Nov and although it was slow I was okay with it.
Issues started from 30th nov where I got a call around 3 PM. The concerned Airtel person asked whether my connection is activated. When I Faizabad affirmatively, the lady disconnected the phone. After that my connection was disconnected.
When I called the customer care @ 10 PM after waiting for some time, I was told that I have not given any local address document and its required as per government rule. The call center employee also told me that my address verification is not done. He initiated that process again and wifi was working till next day 10 PM.
On 1st Dec, wifi stopped working and it was reactivated after I called.
I had given my number but for some reason the call center employees were calling my alternate number and enquiring in Kannada. When requested to speak in English as we don't understand Kannada, the phone was disconnected.
This has continued till date. Today I went to the Airtel store in infosys campus. The person who took my complaint Saila/Shaila told me that the person should have asked for your ID xerox. When I asked her, if its required why it was not taken by the store while selling me the connection, there was no answer. She claimed to have sent an enquiry for my connections status and asked me to contact her after 1 hour. When I did, there was no response.
My colleague had taken the connection with me. We provided same set of documents. He has not provided any document for local address but no issues for his connection. I on the other hand am still waiting to get undisrupted service from Airtel.
After sending a complaint, got a call from the store representative again and she claimed that when the address verificaBrianbalakumarann personnel visited my home, it was under rennovation! white lie I would say. Its a new apartment and no rennovation is required. The concerned airtel store representative wanted bank statement for this location.
