Mobile phone Services have become essential for our day to day life. With the increase in population many Mobile Phone Service operators have come into existence. There are many Mobile Phone Service operators in our country like Reliance, Airtel, Spice, Tata Indicom, Idea, Connect, Tata Documo Vodafone etc .Last year Aircel and Uninor also sprang up.


Earlier each service provides was giving Post Paid services. The companies adopted practices and policies whereby customtakeouters could not get bills and would pay whatever amount on SMS was intimated. So Pre-Paid mobile services were adopted by customtakeouters. For small recharges these companies would pay discounted amounts. And the customtakeouters would go for the least higher amount which could fetch full TT and unlimited validity.


After having suffered at the hands of Airtel, Tata Indicom, Spice etc that would activate any VAS without the knowledge and consent of the user. I tiook up Aircel last year.The offers were appealing in the beginning but as it spread its wings this Aircel, Pre-Paid Mobile provider has now started on the same pattern. How:?


DND Service: Aircel requires user’s request on its Nio.1909. I sent my request to activate DND on my cell just after few days of taking up the service. I thought it will save me from un-necessary charges. But they send so many SMS on your cell that the Inbox gets full within few days.I would empty my Inbox without reading these SMS and call for DND at 1909. This I did four times but the SMSs kept coming. This time I got chance to talk with an Executive of their Complaint Section on 1/8/11 at 5PM who told me that no requests were received by them from me for DND. He further said it has now been noted and shall be effective from Aug. 11, 2011.


C, C. SERVICE: The No is 121. When called it tells you that charges @50p/3 mt will be charged for talking with their Executive and that your options are:1-Balance and Validity, 2.New Offers. 3. For 3G and Data Card . 4.For Service and products. 5, For Portability . 6.Loss of Sim. 7. For National DND and Change of IVR language. There is no option to talk with Executives. As such call ends without any access to their Executive s.


COMPLAINT: The toll free No is 198. It is through this number that I could get my DND registered after over one year.


Aircel of its own activates any Value Added Service on your cell. Sends you SMS after lapse of days. Deducts amount from your recharged balance. This happens when you have huge balance where you get FTT with unlimited validity. I normally Recharge with Rs.150/-Few months back they went on deducting Rs.10/-per month for Akshaya Blog. I accidentally detected it and got de-activated. After few months same thing happened . This time for Bhajji’s blog. Again I got it deactivated after suffering loss. On each of these occasions I sent DND on 1909 and each time I told them to stop activating any VAD on my cell . This time I recharged Rs.150/- on 15th . July at 10 PM. The balance was over Rs 240/- on 16/7 But on 29h I found my balance reduced to about Rs.175/- I tried 121 but to no avail. Then I rang up 198 and asked them to refund Rs. 30/-deducted for Friends Zone( this I came to know on 29/7 by reading SMS dated26/7(8.15 PM intimating to call 570001 to unsubscribe for Friends Zone Service.). I was told that the matter would be resolved by 1/8/2011. Finding no refund added to my balance till Aug/1, I called 198 who asked me to call in the evening. I again tried in the evening and I was told that the service has been deactivated but no refund can be given as the complaint was not made within 48 hours. I asked him to put me on to some Senior Officer. Though I kept waiting but after few minutes the call terminated. I tried again but with no result. Then I searched their contact details at Internet. I have sent them two Emails. But they have not bothered to acknowledge even the receipt of these E-mails.


On Aug1, I, at 5.17PM I got SMS from DD Aircel that all UGC calls to my mobile should stop by 08-Aug-11. OnWhen 198 was called about refund reply was “No Refund as complaint not filed within 48 hrs”. From him I came to know that Friends Zone Service was activated on 20/7 on weekly basis. On 26/7 was second week activation and would have continued till it was not deactivated. So it means I had lost Rs 60/-


This is how Aircel is cheating as was being done by Airtel.


Today again SMS activating Friends Zone Service and charged Rs.30/-I called 198 three four times telling them that I had already filed complaint with request that no such service be activated and my amount refunded. The reply is though complaint registered for disposal by tomorrow nothing can be said about refund.


I may have to find an alternative solution to this problem.


I would request members to throw AIRCEL to AIR.


I would not like to recommend it to any of my friends.
