To a certain extent I agree with the review of trustworthy. In general we have a poor view about public sector Co.s and an ill-feeling towards I.A is partly due to it. It is true that I.A has a long way to go in terms of improving service.
However it does have its plus points.
In terms of safety one feels more safe flying I.A. I remember an I.A. flight which was delayed by over 6 hours. The passengers were offered to travel by one of the private airlines. There were many who waited for the delayed I.A. flight.
I also believe the food provided by I.A. is the best for the Indian taste buds compared to many of the foreign airlines. And we must appreciate the fact that when I.A. had no competition they still provided good meals. In the USA most of the domestic carriers just give you peanuts and coke.
Of course they have a wider network. They even fly to countries in Asia.
Also do not forget that many of the new private airlines have pilots and staff trained by I.A. Can these pvt. airlines match the training that I.A. provide?
Considering that I.A. is public sector they are doing pretty well. They have certain areas to improve. But don't expect air hostesses to wear shorts or be very young and beautiful women. The govt. has certain social commitments and have to maintain our culture.
I would still prefer to travel by I.A. After all reaching my destination safely is more important to me than watching smiling and beautiful airhostess.
However the competition has done good to improve the airline. It can still strive to fly higher...
