Flew on Indian recently after 5 years on the ahmedabad - mumbai sector. The last time i boarded an Indian Airlines plane was in 2002, when I got mouldy sandwiches and frozen frooti! The airhostesses were scary, and refused to change the food. The flights used to get delayed by an hour at least (this was before the boom, when airports were empty) and they never even tried to apologize.
Good news is.... its changed!! This time round, the planes are clean, the food is awesome, and even the airhostesses smiled! add to that the generous baggage allowance, the comparatively generous leg room and cheap fares ( the tickets cost less than spicejet) I really cant complain.
Only thing that has not changed.....the flight was delayed. but they provided refreshments at the airport and the guy at the counter actually apologised for the delay. Any courtesy on their part would have been unthinkable 5 years ago. Overall, I had a good experience. Its not on par with Jet, but they are getting there. I will certainly fly Indian again.
