This is an classic case of air India!
I have a booking for my wife and infant kid travelling to Sydney from Mumbai and the the flight route is MUM - DEL - SYD. Now I was looking on some on-time performance for the MUM-DEL flight AI866 and to my surprise the flight is getting delayed almost everyday(with maximum on 16th Sep with 1hr 30 mins) which might make it difficult for the passengers with connecting flight to get the connections.
So, as I have my wife and baby travelling alone was proactive and to reduce their hassle requested Air india staff to shift the booking to another flight AI348 which is 2 hours prior to it.
They informed me that the rescheduling fee is 1300 INR which I am happy to pay, but, to my surprise they advise me that the tickets as a whole needs to be cancelled and re-booked(for the whole journey) which in totally will cost me INR 24, 000 extra. So I went online to check the availability for AI348 and it has tickets available in INR 4254. Does Air India think customer is stupid that he will pay 24K to make a change which if he books a new ticket would cost him just 4K? Also what kind of service is this? Dont you understand customer concerns and conditions he is travelling in? what if the flight gets delayed again? do you understand how much hassle they would have to go? Come on guys.you dont care for us but we do!
This is the only reason why people dont prefer to travel with Air india as you dont understand customers and just have your own rules which dont make sense. Seriously, this would ever be my last booking with Air India and would also suggest people not to book tickets with you to have such an experience.
