I travelled with this new airline Air china from Mumbai to Beijing via chengadu. It is a member of start alliance! No web check in no seat selection no tele check in! Food is horrible and I tried everything i.e. veg/non-veg/Chinese but uniformly bad. Vegetarians will suffer the most and I recommend they carry their own stuff. No leg room. The planes look as if they have been used for 20 years and are shabby from inside and outside. No TV for you. One roof screen for 6 rows which will show one Chinese movie only !
The crew frowns at everything and serves with an attitude "we are granting you a favour"! While coming back I was given only my boarding pass from Beijing to Chengadu. My luggage was not checked through but I had to pull out my bags and run to check in again at Chengadu! My flight was delayed and it was very difficult to transfer.
I will advise you to fly via Hong Kong or Singapore rather than fly this route with this airline.
Avoid at any cost.
