I recently had the misfortune of flying Air Canada and till date regret my decision to fly that airline. I had bought a Delhi-Zurich return ticket on Swiss Air (it being the only direct flight on that route) but since Swiss Air has a code sharing arrangement with Air Canada, the Swiss Air flights from Delhi are actually operated by Air Canada .
On boarding the flight at Delhi, we came across straight faced stewards and hostesses who it seemed never knew how to smile!
My wife was horrified to find that the blankets supplied were not clean and were full of specimens of human hair!!!!!!!!!!…………that leads to the conclusion that the airline does not believe in supplying clean and fresh blankets to its passengers.
The onboard entertainment system was horrible, with no individual screens on the seats, the movie collection was also ridiculous……they were playing a cartoon though there was not even a single child onboard the flight! To add to it ,quite a few of the passengers were complaining about the headphones not working.
The crew was pathetic………rude, unfriendly and callous. The food both in terms of quality and quantity was pathetic too. On our way back from Zurich we were offered only one meal on an 8 hr flight!……………..we landed in Delhi at 12 midnight but Air Canada thought it was inappropriate to serve dinner!!!!!! To add to the airline did not even provide water bottles!.........each time I was thirsty,I had to wait fa good 20 mins for the steward to come and give me a glass of water along with a few scornful glances.
The safety announcements were made in a manner, which was callous and inaudible. Infact on one occasion I had to complaint to the flight supervisor that the crew member making announcement in Hindi kept on laughing while making the safety announcements…………she seemed to be too amused!!!!!!
To add to it the flights are rarely on time. While coming back from Zurich the flight was delayed by a good 5 hours!
Just to sum up, both me and my wife have made up our mind not to fly Air Canada ever again and I would suggest the same to others as well until and unless you are willing to bear 8 hours of trauma!!
