All right.. So after watching big budget extravaganzas this year which had somewhat dissapointed me, here comes a sweet, charming and a likeable flick named Aahista aahista.

Being a Delhi resident, what I loved most about the flick was the simplicity by which parts of Old Delhi were captured...there are no foreign locales, no expensive dresses, or big wheelers in which even the most ordinary characters travel.. there is this leading hero who doesn't even seem to possess a bicycle, wears simple cheque shirts, hangs around with the most common people whether its the band waala or the PCO waala or the chaai-wala, can't speak English, is a caring fellow yet a kamina, who can't bear to see the love of his life with someone else, and lies a lot.. somewhat reminded me of Sunil of KHKN..

The love story is very charming, a film about simple people and their simple backgrounds, yet everyone captures your heart in his own way, a simple setting, yet you want to be a part of it, being a part of their lives, a simple guy Ankush, yet you feel for him..

The film captures you from the very start.. right from the casting phase.. showing the hero helping the bride and groom in the marriage registrar office who are short of witnesses.. and the following scenes showing Soha's introduction, Abhay helping her out, and the relatonship which blossoms.. nothing extraordinary about it.. but yet you smile through the journey..

the first half is very likeable, but with Shayan Munshi's return, the film somewhat loses some of its charm.. but thanks to the actor called Abhay Deol, the film never falters.. its a smooth and pleasent ride t\right till the very end..

Abhay Deol is a very likeable actor, he holds a charisma of his own, the best part being that he has his own unique style.. and is very natural at it.. Soha is good as well while Shayan Munshi is just about okay.. another character which delivers an impact is that of Khaala... as the loud resident of Daryaganj with whom Abhay never gets along.. other small characters register an impact in their own way.

final words: go for it to release some of your tension in daily life.. the film may just leave a smile on your lips.. but the climax may attract mixed feelings from the viewers.. a somewhat natural and tragic end to a sweet, simple and beautiful love story.
