Friends plz don't scold me for expressing my views. Last Sunday I went to agra with two of my friends. After a long journey (pathetic to be more precise) what I saw was ridiculous. Don't think it the other way.
Being an Indian I am proud of the Taj. Definitely it's a great work of the Mughal dynasty. I was mesmerized by its beauty. But what I noticed there was that being a city having one of the 7 wonders of the world, it's not maintained well.
People are more busy regarding their own business. All the roads around the Taj are dirty and no one, I think, is
conscious about that. People don't have civic sense at all. Wait, the worst is yet to come. When we returned after a tiresome journey via Brindavan and Mathura ( at around 10-11 pm), the Pujaris were still there waiting for hard earned money from people like us. They even didn't give prasad to those who didn't pay. What a ridiculous thing!
Then we halted at a roadside dhaba which literally looted us. Our bill was RS. 810 for 6 tandoor rotis, 3 plates simple rice, 1 plate simple dal, 1 plate mix veg. They even charged RS. 25 for some some slices of onions as salads. If its a good restaurant, then it's very much okay. But for a roadside dhaba, that too offering veg. food for
such an amount is really a dacoit kind of thing.
If they cheat the Indians like that, imagine the plight of the foreigners who come to India for visit. My final verdict is that Taj is superb, Agra is ridiculous. I'll never visit it again-I swear.
