When you visit Agra, do not fail to see Taj mahal in "chandni raath". You can see Taj mahal at the night only 2 days before full moon day, on the full moon day and 2 days after full moon day. The rest of the time it is closed for night viewing. They have limited tickets on sale, so you have to book one day in advance or get hold of a good travel agent who can do that for you.
It starts at 8.30 pm in the night I guess, and its a batch of 50 people for every half an hour until mid night. There is high security, a group of police keep accompanying you. You have to remain in the group. Its all dark. The monument is not lighted up. But you its the most romantic feeling to watch taj mahal peacefully at the dark only with the moon light on it.
You can only see it from a distance, they dont allow you to go near the monument at night. Yet its worth the visit atleast once. So calm, so peacful and so romantic. We had a wonderful experience that day. The ticket costs 500 Rs per person. Dont miss it!!! Its the luv that Shah jahan had for Mumtaz that comes to your mind when you see this beautiful monument. Try getting there at summer.
