I love to hate this city but keep returning to Agra, sometimes for my friends and sometimes for my partner and sometimes just for the sake of it. If only it’s population is transferred somewhere else, if only Yumuna was cleaner and if only there were no touts, pollution and congestion, Agra could be one of the most spectacular city with home to three magnificent work of art and an array of marvelous Mughal Gardens.

Nevertheless, the iconic Taj Mahal more than makes up for all the flaws inherent in a city trying to keep pace with development and modernity. And Agra Fort Itmad-ud-Daula Tomb and Mehtab Garden also comes to the aid of this ancient city. Despite the crowd and believe me despite the crowd, Taj Mahal happens to be one of those rare monuments where you can capture some great shots from your camera.

Although not a “definitely most recommended city”, a trip to Agra is worth its while for offering an opportunity to visit the Taj Mahal. Agra is definitely not recommended on Fridays as the Taj Mahal is closed for the tourists on Fridays. If you are going to Agra make it a point to visit Fatehpur Sikri en route and if you can than I will also recommend a tour to Keoladeo National Park in Bharatpur especially if you are touring during November till mid-March.
