The trailors of agnivarsha were attractive. The trailors made it seem that the movie was about some mythological incident. Being a different kind of movie, I felt inclined to watch it.

Yes, the film was indeed different. It was utter nonsense. It was a newly written fairytale.

The story is set in a kingdom which has not received any rain for many years. The king arranges a grand ''yagna''. But who should be the purohit ? The king selects Jackie Shroff, the son of a wise sage. The sage himself was not chosen because of his old age. This makes the father jealous of his son. How realistic!!!

The yagna continues for many years. It is about to end. Raveena Tandon is Jackie's wife. Now Nagarjuna, who had gone to the jungle to seek knowledge, is the man whom Raveena wanted to marry. He returns, and is distressed to find his girlfriend married. In a moment of weakness, Raveena and Nagarjuna have sex. This is seen by Sonali Kulkarni, girlfriend of Jackie's younger brother Milind Soman.

Raveena returns home. Somehow, I guess using his divine powers, her father in law comes to know of the incident. He rebukes her and invokes a ''Rakshas'' (Prabhudeva) to kill Nagarjuna. The job is promptly accomplished.

That night Jackie returns home. There is a quarrel between the father and the son. Jackie kills his father and returns to the yagna. Milind Soman performs the last rites, and comes to the yagna. Then for some reason which I have not been able to comprehend, Jackie proclaims Milind the murderer of their father and he is beaten up and thrown out of the kingdom , where a play group rescues him.

He becomes a part of the troupe and comes to the kingdom to stage a play. During the show, in a fight Sonali Kulkarni is killed. Milind Soman burns down the yagnasthal and Jackie burns himself there. Devraj Indra (Amitabh) appears and after a lot of squealing by Soman, does something and the country had rain. (Actually, he moved the ''kalchakra'' forward or backward)

Now that you know the story , you can judge the film for yourself. The story is uninteresting, to say the least. There seemed to be no point in making a film like this. I can't understand how Amitabh agreed to be a part of something rotten like this. Anyway, his loud and clear voice, as the voice of Indra, was probably the best thing that the film had.

Jackie performed well, and so did Nagarjuna. Raveena was decent. Amitabh was wasted. Prabhudeva naturally did justice to the role of the Rakshas. Milind Soman had nothing to show for his performance. Throughout the film he spoke and behaved like a child.

Overall, the film is a super waste of time.
