I just can't take it anymore!Yes, I mutely uttered the same words while watching Agneepath(2012)(Produced by Karan Jo)(The one with HR, Zarina Wahab!)(Directed by Karan M); last Friday but today those words came out of my mouth for a different reason altogether.

And for those who are wondering why I've given so many different references to the film I've seen the answer is I'm trying to make sure no one, absolutely no one should even think for a second that I'm taking about one cult(or flop!) film made by some dude named Mukul Anand which happen to share the same title with this recent money-spinner.

And who the is Zarina Wahab?!

Well, please read on.

I'm just a typical movie buff; if not a reviewer/critic but like most of us, can tell the difference between'Godfather' and'Neal n Nikki'.

I've seen quite a few disappointing movies in my 30 years of lifetime and going by my success rate, I'll watch quite a few more going ahead. Last Friday was no different and I ended up watching yet another substandard film which had received rave reviews even before it was released(Darn!, why I fall for the same stupid trick everytime!).

No big deal…it happens! I picked myself up, asked my furious wife(who happens to be a die-hard Big B fan) to forgive the Johars and Malhotras and Roshans, exchanged a quick glance with my Bollywood-encyclopedia friend, caught the similar disappointment in his eyes and departed with bitterness engulfing me to some extent; if not completely.

Before hitting the bed at 3:30 am, I just googled to see what is the reaction of media/people now after the movie has officially released worldwide. So what the likes of Taran Adarsh/TOI and Co. got it wrong, I knew that soon people’s verdict will come out and the record breaking movie will fall flat on its face.

I was wrong….

People worldwide were still praising it….yes there were few like me but overall the reaction was positive!

Puzzled, I went to bed….(Did I watch the same film they all are talking about or have I lost it?!)

It didn’t bother me till Monday when few things happened in office which kind of forced me to write this….

First few colleagues of mine questioned me over my judgment and showed me 3-4 sites where the movie has received 4 Stars!

And then accidentally, during lunch hours I visited TOI website and found how HR’s family is proud of his performance and how much money the film has made so far and how KJo is celebrating the success!

Enough!.

I muttered those words(refer to the first line), gave Clarke Kent a meal break and put on my red * and blue scrape….

Its time to save the world!

Review:

Agneepath(2012) is a below par, sub-standard, overhyped, ridiculous, senseless, over the top…blah blah and blah…film. Revenge stories are supposed to be simple yet powerful. This one is silly and completely fails to evoke any strong emotions. And no, I’m not even comparing it to the old one. No matter what they call it; homage or tribute but this remake is nothing but a maligned mockery of Mukul Anand’s version.(Good that he didn’t live long enough to see this one!)

They have ripped apart one of our favorite movies and now I intend to do the same.one by one .

Hrithik Roshan…

This one is possibly the second worst performance of his career(after Prem ki Diwani). I happen to be his big fan but here I just couldn’t digest him as Vijay Dinanath Chavan. He looks good with his well toned physique and green eyes but fails miserably to get into the skin of the character. He can be the first superhero of our country(and the best so far) but he possibly is the worst BHAI Bollywood has ever seen. Usually he is convincing in most of the characters he has played in his films(Rohit, Karan, ETHAN, Akbar, Mr A etc) but here he is as confused as a child in a topless bar(courtesy: Siddhuism!). Though he manages to evoke pain in few emotional scenes with his sister but where is the rage? Where is that intensity, that madness that we expect from someone who wants to avenge his father’s murder?

I’m still trying to figure out how on earth the reviewers didn’t bother to mention this and how HR’s family members are proud of this performance! Duggu, great time to judge who is your true friend now. Anyone who tells you on you face that you were nowhere near to Pappu Kanya, forget Vijay Chavan…he is your true friend!

Sanjay Dutt(aka brother of Voldermort)

He looks menacing! Kudos to the team who came up with his look and the new Kancha is possibly the most devilish villain I’ve ever seen in Bollywood!

I said seen…it’s a visual thing.

Period!

The moment Kancha uttered his first dialogue, we chuckled and that kind of set the pattern for the entire film. Most of the times he opened his mouth, we opened ours as well. Either with disgust or to smile again!

Damn it! I’m not supposed to smile when the devil is on screen or especially when he is trying to be mean. You know what I mean?!

Trust me guys, I couldn’t help it.

For those who are comparing his performance with the likes of Gabbar or Shaakal, please stop watching Neal n Nikki again and again. It has altered your taste, you know!

Kancha however easily commands attention in Vijay’s presence and that is not a compliment considering it was the weakest Vijay of Bollywood…ever.

Zarina Wahab.

Oh, I just loooovvveeeed her!

She played Vijay’s mother(the same one played by some lady named Rohini Hattangadi); rather Zarina took the character to new heights. She was so pathetic in everything she muttered that I took the pain to find out her name the first thing I did after I came out of the theatre. A perfect example of casting gone horribly wrong!

One of the highlight of Anand’s film was the relationship between Vijay and his mom; those legendary dialogues like ‘Apne haat dho lo Vijay’ and ‘Mera beta gunda nehi’ where both AB and Rohini produced superlative performances to say the least.

Here, both Zarina and HR matched each other.a match made in the heavens which took us to a hellish journey! The harder they tried to make us cry, the louder we laughed.

There are three people who however stand out in this film.

Sorry, its four.

AJAY-ATUL, Priyanka and Rishi Kapoor.

Maybe some other time I’ll tell you why I had goose bumps when they played ‘Deva Shree Ganesha’ and why I cant stop listening to the soundtrack of the film and why no body in the world can play a marathi mulgi as beautifully as PC and why Rishi Kapoor was probably the villain I wanted Kancha to be….

But today I’m here to enlighten you, to guide you, to protect you and show you the real picture behind this silly and dirty picture.

If you are still not convinced and want to have a go, then…. I give up!

I’m not going to ask you, “Bhaishab, app convince ho gaye ya main aur bolu?”
