Have watched the movie just twice, that's why the title..will edit it to ‘Agneepath...Agneepath...Agneepath!!! ‘ when I watch it third time probably this weekend. People have written enough about the movie, it’s story, plot etc. So won’t write much detail about the plot. Would like to emphasize on it more from a cinema point of view.

If you are going to watch it as an entertainer, you might get disappointed, but if you want to watch some real good cinema, then this is the film which will perfectly satisfy your purpose. Another thing is if you compare this movie with the Old Agneepath (featuring Amitabh Bachchan), again you might not like it much, but if you watch it like a fresh movie, it will keep you amused.

The movie went house-full in almost all screens first four days & is already a box-office hit. Yet some people say it’s not entertaining. The main reason being the comparison with Old Agneepath. Yes I too agree that Older one was better & I myself missed some scenes from it. Some Scences like

‘Topi sambhalo Dinkar Rao, Hawa bohot tez Chalta hai’.

‘Aaj Apun ka maut k saath appointment hai’

‘Eh Caancha, saala bandook bhi dikhata hai aur peeche bhi hattha hai?’

The Hospital scene where Amitabh asks the doc to save Mithun

The Restaurant scene.

& a few more too.

Anyways, keeping apart the comparison, this new Agneepath is no less. It’s a treat for cinema lovers. Direction, cinematography, background score, music, cast, performance, plot, name anything & it’s brilliant. The basic story is same as that of the original one. Vijay’s father who is determined to bring a revolution in his village Mandwa is killed brutally by Kancha as he has evil intentions & plans to occupy the villagers’ land for illegal purpose. Vijay comes to Bombay after that & lives in a small colony with his mother & newly born sister. He gets into Rauf Lala’s gang to become powerful & ultimately kill Kancha. The movie shows his journey towards his mission.

Many people have criticized the movie as boring & stretched & no match to the original & have disliked the movie. Anyways, people have different views. I found the movie to be very balanced. Each character gets equal importance & screen-time in the movie. It won’t appear like only one character is being shown for a long time. The story has been modified from the original one. Twists & turns in the movie keep you glued.

People who are in for good cinema will definitely like this one. & for those who just want mere entertainment, I think they should stick to ‘The Dirty Picture’ :-P

Anyways, coming to the performance. Hrithik never disappoints with his performance & he is always getting better with each movie. I was a little sceptical about Hrithik performing the role, but he has done a great work. Love, Emotions, Vengeance, Innocence, determination, everything reflected on his face in the right amount at the right places. The scenes when he meets his sister, when Kali (Priyanka Chopra) dies, when Rauf Lala(Rishi Kapoor) tries to sell his sister, in the end after killing Kancha(Sanjay Dutt), & many other are just awesome. You will definitely sympathise for him in some of the emotional scenes.

Rauf Lala’s character is also beautifully performed by Rishi Kapoor. First time in his career he has played a negative role & he has done it flawlessly. His looks, way of talking, actions everything has been taken care of to suit the character.

Kancha steals the show for his looks. I won’t say he was the best performer in the movie, but every time he appears on screen, you will be on the edge of your seat to see what he does next. His character is unpredictable & mean. The entry scene is just superb. Background score for kancha is also very impressive & gives you a feeling of entering some kind of hell. The set-up where Kancha lives is given a shade of black & grey & it perfectly gives an devilish appearance.

Priyanka Chorpa plays the bubbly girl(kali) that she is & as always gives her best to the character she plays. She will make you laugh. You will love her for being cute, caring & understanding at the same time. You don’t get such good girlfriends these days :-P Though she has a small role, she has done very well.

Other characters like Inspector Gaitonde(Om Puri), Vijay’s mom, Master Deenanath Chauhan, Surya, all have done very well & perfectly suited the roles they performed. The Child artist who play’s Vijay’s childhood role has done a superb job too. He is one among the top performing actors in the movie. Special applause for him.

Director Karan Malhotra has done justice to the Dharma banner & gives us a cinema of very high quality. He hasn’t compromised on anything & given us a perfect outcome. Music & background score given by Ajay Gogavale, Atul Gogavale (popularly known as Ajay-Atul) is impressive too. Songs are beautiful & the background score suits all situations. I liked all the songs & my Fav is Gun Gun Guna. Other songs include Chikni Chameli, O saiyaan(not included in the movie due to some controversy), Shah Ka Rutba, Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin, Deva Shree Ganesha. These all are also very nice.

Few scenes I liked a lot are:

Sanjay Dutt’s entry – It’s just awesome

Hrithik’s entry – Nicely shot & directed

Hrithik Meeting sister – Nice emotional touch

Hrithik having an argument with his mother & later having the food made by her

Hrithik’s fight with Rauf Lala – Emotions with anger.

The Climax fight & eventually the Good winning over Evil.

I especially liked the thing that Kancha Still laughs while getting killed. I was so expecting that scene & the director didn’t disappoint me. It so suited his character of being free from all attractions & illusions of life.

The Movie is full of emotions & a really nice watch.

Highly recommended for cinema lovers.
