For original agneepath amitabh won a national award for the role.Amitabh with no tears. Heart frozen and pumping only for revenge brought a respect to the role of vijay dinanth chauhan. Hrithik always seething with revenge.too sensitive. makes a boring portrayal of the original. simply lacks the style and persona that comes with the character.Emotions that Amitabh portrayed in his character are missing in the adaptation.hrithik lacks towering screen presence of amitabh where are the dialogues.The larger tha life persona.the generosity and ethics of vijay was missing in new one.new vijay(hrithik) looks like a henchman of rauf lala rather than an independent entity handling the underworld.
The “nariyal paniwala” of the original tale.performance by Mithun is immemorable. Without support of krishnan, vijay's revenge is not conceivable. When vijay's siter was in danger, it was krishnan who initially keeps her falling into anna's hands.The presence of the character, witty and humorous dialogues made the mood lighter in an otherwise serious revenge drama.Even the love story between Vijay and Kaali(Priyanka Chopra) doesn't ease the boredom
In the original version of AGNEEPATH the chemistry between the mother played by Rohini Hattangidi and the son Big B was amazing on the screen and emotions between mother and a son were high points of the original agneepath. In the modern version of AGNEEPATH surprisingly the emotions have been left aside.
Compared to original, Mandva looks very very fake. he gloomy “bargad ka ped” and kancha's black lair are a little too obvious as props and not as real places.The blue dark background seems so unreal.
Priyanka Chopra, who tries hard to redo her Marathi mulgi act from Kaminey could not leave her mark.
Gripping though in the first half, there are many plotholes in new agneepath.
Vijay stages an assassination attempt on Rauf Lala’s son and takes a bullet to his own shoulder. Why? To get in Lala’s good books? Then why make a speech about not needing either of them?
What kancha cheena kept on doing in a backward village like mandwa.he was never out of the village.earning cash for next birth.may be.
No one ages in the film, not the mother, not Kancha. Time stands still.
The worst part of new agneepath is the climax.Suddenly director thinks that enough is enough, now we have to end the 3 hours long film. So vijay reaches mandva and fights with kanacha, gets stabbed five times and still lynches kancha.Vijay attacks Kancha’s lair by carefully placing and detonating big bombs, but refuses to carry a simple pistol to overpower the villain, and gets beaten to pulp.
Only saving graces are performances of rishi kapoor as rauf lala and that of sanjay dutt as kancha cheena.However, rauf's role is too lecherous and original kancha daany was much more suave than sanjay dutt as kancha. It is incomprehensible what made the director dress sanjay in black robe.Katrina Kaif has done justice to the role to a certain extent.Chikni chemeli was a releif.
