Review on Agatti Island resort would be based on its comparison with our stay at Kadmat Island Resort
Resort
-
Beach Resort is just 5 minute walk from the AgattiAirport(only one airport @ Lakshadweep)
Resort was well maintained and shady with coconut trees grown all over the hotel surroundings.
Rooms & Facilities

Room was good and clean, well furnished(again compared to Kadmat).
Bathroom was not good enough. Worst part of the stay was salty, hard water which poured of those taps. Horribly hard water.
(Surprisingly, the water at Kadmat island was really fresh and clean.)
I feel overall the room can be rated below average compared to what we pay for one night(INR 10000/- for A/C Standard room is quite a lot).
Surprisingly, resort had no cable connection(I wanted to catch up Ind-Aus Down Under Series. missed the final day of the historic Perth Win. I was able to capture at least first 3 days at Kadmat Island . had some fun time pulling some Aussie tourists)
Food & Drink

Food served was excellent and they provide you decent variety of food, fruits. Well as most of the island, Alcohol is prohibited.
You can try your luck and get some fresh toddy in the island(Wake up early and hunt down some toddy maker around the resort)
Room Service and Reception

Really Bad. Reception did not even smile.(Probably, the person was in some off-mood on that day or some temporary person filling up for his manager) They were really a confused lot.
Staff were ok. not really warm and cheerful like that we had at Kadmat Resort(At Kadmat, they treated us like a family)
How to reach Agatti?

Flights from Kochi(IA and Kingfisher)
Ship from Kochi . 24 hr long journey. Try to avoid it. Quite possible to get sea-sickness. Making your stay even more miserable. thinking about the trip back to Kochi:-)

Sightseeing & Activities

Agatti Island is best place for
White Clean Sand and brilliant blue water is always a welcoming sight. Walk around the shore was an amazing experience.
Solitude is what you find out here in abundance.
You find a lot of sea turtles peeping out of the water.
Worst part of the resort -
They charge you for any kind of sports activity.
Only Kayaking is free.
Rest were charged - snorkeling kit & Mask(Rs200/- per hr), Guide for deep lagoon(Rs. 500/- per person), Glass bottom boat is also charged. These charges really discourage guests to venture into the water world.(This makes stay at Kadmat island much much better, where all these activities as part of the accommodation cost - just INR 4000/per day per couple).
We had quite a lot guests at Agatti who found these cost a bit high and they just ended up relaxing & eating at the resort and beaches. Kids with them were really bored. We would recommend the resort to think about getting some economically packages for all the sports activity.
We(that would my wife and I) had stayed 3 days at Kadmat and had done a load of snorkeling and scuba diving. So we did not go for any snorkeling and scuba diving at Agatti. What we hear is the lagoons are beautiful and has good colorful Aquatic life(like in Kadmat) Trust us colorful fishes and corals were the best things in these islands.
We request you to please at least try 30 mins snorkeling. World under those waters is beyond your imagination.
Scuba diving facility is also provided at this Resort.
Final Word:
Folks who are particular about your accommodation facility(good A/C, bedding and etc), particular about your food, we would recommend Agatti. [Mind you the Bathing water is horribly hard and salty].
But if you ask us, we would anytime pick Kadmat island resort for economically package, water sports, excellent snorkeling guide, friendly staff, reasonable accommodation & food.
