I recently shifted from Bangalore to Kolkata and had to move my household goods - some furniture, washing machine, sewing machine etc. After a lot of sifting, we decided on DRS Agarwal Packers and Movers, the well-known group having umpteen offices throughout India and headquartered in Secunderabad. Flashy catalogues, ISO certified, own carriages, door-to-door safe delivery etc. was promised. During the packing, they used no stuffings to prevent damage.
On unloading, every single piece of furniture was damaged. A heavy teak almirah had the bottom ripped and the legs missing. Worse, they will not help you in any way inspite of their promises. After heavy arguments, they did some perfunctory repairs. They had accepted my terms of 50% payment after proper delivery but refused to deliver until they had received the money. As far as unpacking is concerned, the labours are too inept to handle anything.
All their assertions are empty promises; they are worse than the smallest players. Faltu is the word! They overload somewhere on the way; turn your furniture upside down without even knowing it. Who gave them the ISO certificate? Their insurance charges are eaten up.
They dont do anything of the sort; they do not even ask you for the valuation - just fill in some at random figures to their advantage. If you act with the slightest faith in them, you are doomed. They will wash their hands off you as soon as they have received their money - perfect politicians. I think if you trust your goods to any ordinary transporter, he will do a far better job. It seems they are doing us a favour by taking away our money for such poor, poor service. Dont get taken up by their advertisements, flashy offices, good links etc. Bangaloreans especially beware....
