A film, where there is a loving and caring father,a sweet daughter, and an obsessive lover,is ”Aetbaar”.This is one such film, with simple characters, and a very simple storyline.Director Vikram Bhatt, who achieved his biggest success through ”Raaz”,and then ”Aawara Paagal Deewaana”,in the last few days, have been failing continuously. This film is very similar to his last film ”Inteha”.In that film, there was a girl who was meeting a wrong person, and her step-sister was stopping her from meeting that guy. Here, again there is a girl, who is meeting a wrong kind of a person, but the one who is stopping her is her ”father”.Now,what`s the purpose of watching this film?Just for time-pass,”yaar”!

THE FILM:

Cutting Edge entertainment`s ”Aetbaar”,directed by Vikram Bhatt stars Amitabh Bahchcan,John Abraham,Bipasha Basu, and Supriya Pilgaonkar.in this film,Bipasha Basu and Amitabh Bachchan, are coming face to face, for the first time, although both of them starred in ”Aankhen”,before, where Bipasha was just in a song. Also,in this film, the ’hot’ pair of John Abraham and Bipasha Basu will be seen on screen, after ”Jism”.Does this film entertain?Yes.When going to watch this film, are we going for something very experimental and different?NO!!!

THE CHARACTERS AND PERFORMANCES:

1.Dr.Malhotra(Amitabh Bachchan):Dr.Malhotra,is a very simple and decent kind of a person. He is very possessive and loving towards his daughter.Amitabh Bachchan,as a loving father of such a daughter who is meeting an obsessive person, excels! His face expressions and his dialogue delivery are both wonderful, which makes this performance a power-packed performance. This week, two of his films have been released. The other one is ”Khakee”.This week he proves how versatile an actor he is.

2.Ria(Bipasha Basu):Ria,is the loving daughter of Dr.Malhotra, who is now in love with someone,DANGEROUS.Bipasha Basu, comes up again with the same performance. Her voice is,as usual, dubbed, and her face expressions are exactly the same, which she had in ”Footpath,Raaz,Gunaah”,etc. She looks beautiful,in this film, though I`ve noticed that she has gained some weight.

3.Aryan(John Abraham):Aryan is the hero,as well as the villain of this film.He is madly in love with Ria.He is obsessive about Ria!John Abraham,as this obsessive guy, impresses at some parts.Only at some parts, you`ll feel, that he should improve himself,a bit.Otherwise,a decent performance.Let`s wait for his next releases,”Lakeer” and ”Paap”.

Of the rest,Supriya Pilgaonkar,(from the teleserial ”Tu Tu Main Main”)looks too young to play Bipasha`s mom, however, she does quite well.Shruti Ulfat, and Ali Asghar, don`t impress much.

THE STORY:

The story revolves around the family of Dr.Malhotra, who lives with his wife and daughter. He is very caring towards his daughter.Slowly and gradually,he finds out that his daughter is in love. This thing upsets him,as the boy whom she loves is a bit crazy,or you can say very ”OBSESSIVE”.He tries to explaing this thing to his daughter,Ria,but she refuses to agree with him. What will Dr.Malhotra do to save his daughter, from such an obsessive person?

THE WORK OF THE CREW:

Though not perfect, but still Vikram Bhatt,as a director manages to entertain his viewers.Although, the film`s storyline is as old as hills, still some scenes, don`t let us down. The scene where Aryan comes to Dr.Malhotra`s residence, keeps you attentive, but somehow, the film disappointed,at places. For example, why Ria never listened to her father? The climax, also seems to be hurried off.Screenplay,is alright. The film loses its grip, mainly in the second half,as it becomes too repetitive.Editing,is a big problem with the film. There are too many songs, first of all and then so many scenes which seem as if they are being repeated over and over again, could have been easily deleted.Cinematography,is done very beautifully. The film looks fresh, bright and colourful.Dialogues are first rate.Rajesh Roshan`s music,is fine.”Tum Mujhe Bas Yunhi” and ”Chodo Chodo”,are the two BEST songs in the soundtrack.

ON THE WHOLE:

”Aetbaar”,is your regular Bollywood fare, which entertains you,but does not involve you.The second half of this film will make you leave the cinema halls, but if you`re a true Amitabh Bachchan fan, then you will love this film,as it gives Mr.Bachchan, ample scope to perform. This is a complete time-pass film, which you can without any hesitance view,if you have nothing to do,and want to have some nice time.If the trailors of this film makes you feel,as if it is different then don`t ‘trust’(”Aetbaar”,should I say???),this film.
