Hmm.. Well.. Advaith Hyundai was the only car dealer I have dealt with in all my life so im not here to compare people.. Let me frankly give my views on how I was treated when I bought my first the Hyundai Santro Xing eRLX ( see my review...).
I walked in straight to the showroom and was clueless as to what was happening there.. I agree it was quite late when I walked in to the showroom (7 p.m) in the evening but isnt there supposed to be atleast a front desk person who receives people and atleast seats them and introduce them to a Counsellor.. We were jus wandering around in the showroom and each person was happily engrossed in their work.. I asked a few people and they were nonchalant to a prospective customer..
Finally about half hour we got hold of a consultant Anand Nanjappa who luckily happened to be incharge of the corporate account. Well the first meet went of smoothly. He tried to explain a few things about the car which I already knew and I was just interested to know the financing options. im not a hard bargainer and finally fell into the whims of the consultant. The deal was over because I had already made up my mind to buy the car immediately.
I was promised a few goodies ( the basics ) and instead of the free cassette player he offered to upgrade it to a MP3 system (in lieu of my corporate discount of 4K). Barring that no offer was made or asked for ( poor me ) . As for the financing he really didnt give us any option to choose from ( Take the clue .. Bargain hard.. ). I was hopelessly ineffectual in clinching a deal.
He gave me a call the next day and I went in submitted the documents and left instructions that incase he needed anything he could contact me anytime since I was impatient about getting the car . A few days passed and I got a call
saying that this was missing that was missing and it was delaying the process That was fine.. I was promised delivery of the car in a week but it was delayed by another week because of some lame excuses. A few visits and calls set everything right ( they actually are not bothered to call you once you are their customer) Alright.. now here comes the cake..
Took the delivery of the car.. It was a marvel and I was just happy enough to trot it down the road.
A couple of days later I noticed that there was no sound from the front speakers. ( yes they were not working from the very first day). How could they do this to me?.
( there is already a review which says speakers are one thing they play a game with).
i called them a couple of time . visited them and was told to go to the service center to get it replaced.
Well the people in the Service center were quite opposite to the people in the showroom ( they sport an air ). The person at the service center was very helpful and replaced the speakers when I had gone for my first service..
Well and the RC book also had my name and address spelt wrong and they took 2 weeks to actually to just overwrite it and courier it.
Watch out for the fine print.. Be double cautious with all your documents..
So what is the conclusion?
A few points
Be aggressive with your consultant ( I dealt with Anand Nanjappa)
Sport a know all attitude.
Bargain really hard
Dont ever agree to all that they say in the first instance
About the dealer.
Overall the experience was satisfactory but they could improve. Being a customer centric organization they should have more people to help their customers around the showroom.
Watch for whatever comes as goodies. They could either be defective or be nothing at all ( for instance the ganesh idol and the car freshner .. believe me they are not worth a penny).
A neat Advice - 3 Mar 2006
Im updating this review after about 8 months. I was duped on the speaker part.
The deal was for a Sony Xplod Music system with Sony Front and rear speakers and trust me I couldnt find if the rear speaker were fake until last month.. Day by day all the speakers stopped working and cringing.. Dont buy the music system (or atleast the speakers) if they come with your car package.. DONT..
