Internet when started was just a simple looking page.Yes a page with text giving you information about the whole world.Then there grew a craze to send email's and suddenly the whole look and the format of a web page began to change.
There was no intention of earning any money from the web site. But as time grew people began to think of Internet as a place for them. Yes, a place where they could make money and get the world progressing. And then came in the Banner's.
Banner's are generally neatly designed to get the customer clicking on it so that the particular site from which you clicked can make some money out of then.
The whole Banner process
Banner and made of simple format such as gif (a image format), there are companies like doubleclick which take money from some company say ''HOMETRADE'' and design banner for them. Here the web site putting the banner act as the customers to the companies.
But there is a turn here, yes. Both the customer and the company earn. The customer earn from the company which pay's it limited amount for each time the banner is clicked.
So both have a earning method.

If you don't know the server from which the Ads are coming then move your mouse over the banner and remember the address (displayed on the status bar) till the .net or .com which are the suffixes.
For example, many site use banner services from doubleclick.net to stop ads from this server, double click on the icon representing Adsoff! in the task bar and go to cookies blocking part click on the ''ADD'' button and type in ads.doubleclick.net or if you want to stop ad from a Indian site type ad.in.doubleclick.net. The similar process and be done to block ads from other site.
