Value for Money. Review on Action Footwear

One of the oldest innovations of the world is Footwear and reason was to get protection from rough topography, weather conditions and may be from reptiles. Literature says it all started sometime around 3500 BC. However, I very strongly believe that some sort of foot-cover people might have used much before 3500 BC. Sandal seems to be the first form of footwear.

Based on the evidence I feel footwear is one more gift to the civilization from Egyptians. Today footwear is not only protecting our foot but it is also part of the dress code. We need different types of footwear to suit our mode and occasions. According to me, Action, the Indian footwear maker, produces all types of shoe required by common people. This Indian company has captured Indian market but I do not know much about their success in overseas market. It should not be that difficult for them to explore export market with their huge range and very attractive price tag.

They have many varieties in categories like Sports, Mausam (All weather), Leather (Formal), Casuals and Special one for kids. Other than formal leather shoes, all other categories have been tried by someone in the family. I still prefer to have Bata make leather shoes because it is easily available. Actionhas showrooms in some cities; in Mumbai, their only showroom is in Lokhandwala complex, Andheri.

I like their shoes mostly because of their shape. Let me share my recent experience. My elder son, Arjun wanted a white sports shoe for his morning exercise. He needs a big one, no.- 12 and we decided to go for a Nike. We tried at many shops in Deccan area of Pune but none were comfortable. In one shop the salesman (after the trial of a Nike), told my son to stand on a piece of white paper and drawn the outline of the foot by a pen. He kept the shoe on the footprint; width of the shoe was less than that of the footprint even if length was okay. He brought an almost white Action shoe and told my son to try that. Arjun liked that because he could walk comfortably. Then the salesman said, “aye log (Action) desi hai lekin inko logo ka jarurate malum hai” (This is a India company but they know what is required by a customer). To my surprise price was just 1/3rd of the other. According to that salesperson, every foot fit into Action shoes because they maintain the right proportion of width and length.

We use Casuals and Sports shoes of Action since long because these shoes are sensibly priced and durability is good. Some of their designs are at par with many famous one. Only problem is they have very limited showrooms unlike Bata. Action shoes are available in other shoe marts but you may not get the one you want or you may have to choose one from what ever is available. Many of their designs are not easily available at least in this part of the country.

From their website came to know that ‘Action’ have very active R&D center. Action also manufactures soles for their shoes. These soles are of either PU or PVC. They are in the business of Housing and constructing Sun City. They also manufacture Microteck computer monitors and peripherals. They are also in the business of plasticizers. Actionseems to be a well-diversified business group.

Some useful tips from that Salesperson

1. Never select the size by its number only. Try it before buying it. One may require a longer / shorter shoe because of the design of the shoe.

   
   




2. Feet swell to their largest in the afternoon. Therefore, afternoon is the best time to try and buy shoe. Lunch break seems to be the best time to buy shoes.

   
   




3. Front of the shoe should be wider than the toe so that it is roomy enough for the toes. Unfortunately, most of the recent designs are narrow.

   
   




4. Length and width of the left and right foot of the same person may be different. So, try both the pairs. You may have to go for a bigger shoe to accommodate the bigger foot.

Best footwear is always made of leather because it breathes like skin and does not become too hot. Leather shoe fits well to the foot due to its flexible nature. During the day, feet may come across different level of actions and temperature. As a part of foot care keeping them dry and comfortable is of paramount importance. Let me share some tips to avoid painful moments.

>>> Feet should be washed well and dried thoroughly. Use talcum powder between the fingers, if necessary. It is better to use clean shocks everyday.

>>> Regularly trim your nails with a clean nail cutter – never use a rusty nail cutter. Long nails may break and that’s painful. In case of any infection, ask for medical help.

>>> Be sure to treat corns under medical guidance. Cutting corns with a sharp blade is never recommended. I really do not know about the effect of Corn-Cure in the long run. Select the right shoe to avoid corn.

>>> Last but not the least is to use a shoe that does not hurt your foot. Shoe cannot cure foot ailment but a good shoe can surly prevent ailment to a great extant. Please remember, Comfort of your foot is more important than fashion.

So friends, I do not hesitate to recommend Action Shoesfor comfortable walk or action because of its style & durability at a reasonable price.
