Why Satyan Anthikkadu is there at the top

Satyan Anthikkadu's movies are special. Because they are plucked out from the lives of people around you and me. Not even a single character is far-fetched. In most, there are no stunts, no songs where hundreds of dancers in bright clothes dance behind the hero and heroine, no hero worship [in fact there are no heros, just some characters whom you and I see every day]. And he doesn't disappoint with this movie either...

The story talks about Achu [Meera Jasmine] and her young mother Vanaja [Urvashi], who stay together in a city. Vanaja is an Insurance agent, and Achu has completed her diploma and joined a construction firm. Life is simple and sweet, but we can see hints of a troubled past in the duo, when Achu gives different answers about who her father is. At times she says he is in the Gulf, and that he is in the millitary some other times. But later we get to know that she herself doesnt know about her father. She doesnt ask her mother about it, that seems to be an unwritten understanding between the two.

Enter Ijo - Emmanuel John[Sunil]. A lawyer [accident claims] and an orphan. Straight, honest and sharp. Achu and Ijo become thick friends, and Vanaja knows deep within that the inevitable would happen some day. And when it happens, Vanaja bluntly says no to their relationship, citing the reason that they themselves are lonely, and she wants Achu to be married off into a family with a lot of relatives... Achu - hot headed as always breaks up with her mother and walks out.

What bitter past has made Vanaja feel that being alone is a curse? Will Achu go back to her mother or will Ijo accept her? And who really is Achu's father? The questions haunt us till the climax, when we get to know that nothing was what we expected...

Songs-

Beautiful. Ilayaraja and Satyan have stuck together after manassinakkare, and the songs are never too flashy. Everybody walking out of the theater hum 'Enthu paranjalum nee entethalle vaave [whatever you say, you're still my kid]'. The song 'Shwasathin thalam' is a masterpiece. This song treads the thin line between the friendship and love, featuring Achu and Ijo. 'Thamarathumpikku' is a fast number, good to listen....

Cast-

Sunil is subtle and intense at the same moment. The fire in his eyes that was there as the police officer in 4 the people is replaced with the eagerness of a guy starting his career, helplessness of an orphan and the understanding nature of a mature gentleman.

Urvashi is natural in acting , artificial in looks. Her ease of acting is unmatched.

Meera jasmine shows why she is the best among the new generation actresses.

Story and treatment-

Touching. I can vouch for that, coz my mom was shedding tears non stop during the climax...
