i love laptops..and cell phones. I just purchased the acer travelmate 2304lci .out of the box, everything seemed to just work. the packaging seemed quite good with-a box within a box within a box, and a loads of packaging foam to keep the laptop safe. included at the top of the box was a quick start guide.which outlined in pictures and a few (multi lingual) words how to get started.great for guys like me who see detailed directions as optional!!!!!!!!!!.

putting the battery in was a snap(haha) . and I was pleasantly surprised that it came charged.(good for da laptop) . XP asked me a few questions. and soon I was rebooting to a normal xp screen.

a pleasant surprise was da built in WIFI feature. I purchased my wireless networking card (D-LINK DI-524) at da same time as da laptop.i had yet to set it up when I turned on da laptop for da first time.the acer found another wireless network in my neighborhood, which was a total surprise to me, and used dat connection to finish XP's conversation wid microsoft. very very cool!! I hope my neighbour didn't mind sharing a cup of bandwidth! oce my own wireless router was setup I found I was getting excellent bandwidth all over my house.YEAH!!

the acer I purchased came with:

-a 15'' XVGA screen which looks great

-a 40 GB hard drive( I have found dat manufacturer vary) pre-partitioned into 2 20GB drives (XP called them "C" N "D"

-a standard touch pad.( but I don't use mouse)

-3 USB 2.0 ports 1 at da front and 2 on da right

-1 s video outport, on da right side

-a cdrw\dvd drive on da left side works great!..but bundled wid some bizarre homegrown ACER burning software package. the dvd software by cyberlink was nice.

-64 MB share intel chipset video card-shared sucks, but wat r u going to do for dis price???

  • front access ports for audio in n out

-front access safety button to turn off wifi n bluetooth devices

-SD card reader-(right side) ..funky extra

-256 MB RAM- something i'll upgrade after mummy..papa..chacha..chachi anyone fills my pocket.

apart frm XP da only software included was acer's cdrw and n dvd engine, and a 3 month trial to norton anti-virus

-all in all a decent little ...and sexy laptop for da price..sleek nift, solid construction and a slew of features a number of more GHATIA n expensive laptops do not have.
