Abhi-Shake (THE BOLLYWOOD) Bachchan . Review on Abhishek Bachchan

Ladies and Gentleman, here's a review that many will like and agree with. If I had written it in 2003 or 2004, people would have trashed it up. But since it's 2005 and we are 5 years into the 21st century, times have changed. So 2004 freaks, get out of those age old message boards and come back to comment on this!!! Well, as the title says...Abhi-shake Bachchan....oops...Abhishek Bachchan has just shook the Bollywood apart with an early 2005 hatrick of hits!!! Did SRK did it, no! Did Hrithik do it..hell no! Did John do it...hell hell hell no! Did Sallu, Aamir, Akshay, anyone do it...NOOO!!! The only person who did it with him is AB Sr. (Black-B&B-Sarkar)!!!! And it comes down to those two again! The two whose comparison initially sunk the younger one and gave the younger's contemporaries a huge laugh on leading him.

As Karan Johar once said, ''AB Sr. is above numbers in Bollywood. SRK is number one while Amitabh is like the leader of the cinema, he doesn't need any numbers.'' As Abhi himself one said ''My dad is a once in a lifetime Phenomena which can't happen again!'' It's a pity that a newcomer, look at it PLSSS!!! A newcomer from 5 years ago enters Bollywood. And wat does the freakin' society say---Oye Abhishek, u are here dude, but are you as good as your father? What a ridiculous question? Can a debutant---just forget the name Bachchan---can a new kid named ABHISHEK lead the STAR of the MILLENIUM? I mean half the world sounds to be out of their senses when they talk like that!

It's amazing to see people say---Amitabh ka ladka hai na Amitabh no nahin!!! Ofcourse not dude...He is Abhishek Bachchan and he has his own ways. Right from Refugee to Om Jai Jagdish---all his hardworked performances were trashed just coz he wasn't as good as THE STAR OF THE MILLENIUM. I mean such a shame people just seemed to want to throw Abhishek out of th industry...such a pity. One of the most promising talents was continuously discouraged and trashed outright...yet his fans (sensible people who only judged him as Abhishek and not Abhishek BACHCHAN) stood by him hoping that he doesn't get discouraged and rather delivers!!! Well the wait is over people...Abhishek has finally arrived and how!!!

Well in 2001 I remember him sitting in awards functions looking at Hrithik perform among some heavy cheering. After that performance viewers said haha...pichle saal Hrithik ka mukabla woh Amitabh ka ladka karne aaya tha...arre usse to naachna bhi nahin aata!!! So hard for a guy like Abhishek I'm sure it might have been to see his best friend...his major contemporary Hrithik getting all the pops and him getting harsh criticism and bunks and how bad it would've felt for him not to live up to his family's expectations!!! But the dude surely took his failure to heart without showing it. He worked his way up through a couple more years of harsh spells of criticism. Finally, after his Om Jai Jagdish where he did decently, he disappeared for a whole year since the summer of 2002.

He came back in 2003 with Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon with a totally different scenario. Now Hrithik was seeing his downfall as an actor and Kareena was also in a tough phase. Suraj Barjatya gave Abhishek a second half side role in the movie. But then of course people didn't want to see more of him. They just ignored him. Though once people came out of the screening, they were spellbinded! The reporters were amazed at the comments...the song ''Aaj main hoon, aur tum ho, aur mohabbat hai, haan yeh chaahat hai aur mohabbat hai'' signalled that the Mr. gentledude had arrived with a freshed breeze. His biggest critics though tried much to ignore those sensible, objective audiences and kept trashing him away. Eventually again Hrithik came back to win an award for Koi Mil Gaya and Abhishek was relegated to audience seats and clapping for his best friend winning the laurels again.

Two years of hardwork and it still didn't change. However one thing that did change was that Abhi was going nowhere and he wasn't to be taken for granted. His critics crossed their fingers hoping he would blunder in his next. His next, Mumbai se Aaaya...was a terrible movie but Abhishek gave no one a chance to complain...a gem of a standout performance. Yet, his movie was a flop at the end of the day and he got the bitter side of the cake. He still seemed unaffected and went ahead at the end of the summer with Kuch Na Kaho...and boy at least that was one of his first movies to not flop...it was just average at the BO...Abhishek then did Zameen...another average. With that he established that stars like Aishwarya, Ajay Devgan and Bipasha can simply not overshadow him if he has a good role. And in both movies he had substantial and different roles. His sensitive Raj in Kuch Na Kaho and cop act in Zameen silenced some critics. Yet others said...O Bhai koi hit hui teri? (Hey did u still get any HIT)....I was like wow this guy has rocked so much with his efforts and the people still...that was so annoying.

But Abhishek kept his cool. He didn't make headlines like Vivek gets Aish, Shahid gets Kareena, Salman fights Vivek, etc. etc. Abhishek disappeared again. And came back in 2004. Music rang up ''Chain ho chain ho mere dil ka sirf tum sirf tum sirf tum''...many of Abhishek's fans wanted to say that to him after watching the guy look ultra cool and suave in that dud of a movie. His style critics were also silenced as he got the ''old-fashioned looking'' label off him with a dashing role!!!

Then came his special appearance in Hum Tum (a movie for all sensible audiences) who stoop up and gave him a round of applause in even that small role. The guy surely deserved that motivation and he continued his good run with Yuva, the role of his life...the DIFFerence maker where his Lallan became an idol all over. His detractors could only envy him for that performance or doubt the movie for bombing the BO. Then it was a matter of time only...3 months later Dhoom became his maiden success effortlessly and that was all that remained. His detractors could only say that John stole the show but the fact is Abhi got what he needed---a HIT. Phir Milenge and Naach were flops but he stole the show in both and forced Antara Mali types into direction and run for their money!

Come 2005 you have DUS BAHANE rolling on to like AB Jr. He has battled the odds to a 2005 hit-trick of movies (discussed above) with a unique role in all 3. B&B's guy next door and Sarkar's vengeful son are both better acts than actors of his gen., Vivek, John etc have done in their parts with AB Sr. (Aetbaar, KHGN, other flops, etc.) That shows how Abhishek has arrived to lead the race of his gen. of actors (shahid, vivek, john) and leapfrog into the top league of the Khans and Dutts and Roshans! He is surely the NEXT BIG THING all of a sudden forcing everyone to have DUS BAHANE to like him. This song means a lot to him as in this movie DUS he shows everyone his suaveness, coolness, and entertaining, rocking dance! His fan-following has surely multiplied with 4 hits in the last 11 months. Great going!

Overall, I give the guy a 5 star since he's my favorite for all he's endured and yet has done to go to the top. He used to only look at the top at one time and people said he would keep looking there and never go there. Now he's up there with all the big offers (Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna just like Hrithik got K3G) and Dhoom II (In which Hrithik is forced to play villain to AB Jr.'s hero act!). And all this is not coz he's AB Sr.s son, but coz he's the Abhishek and he ROCKS!!!He's been on his own all the time and has turned out a real bright star---may be Bollywood's future number 1---so watchout and set urself up for a round of applause!!!
