I am a mother of a 2.9 yrs old son, frantically looking for pre kg admission.
This is about our experience with Abacus Montessori school, perugudi. It is supposedly one of the prestigious schools in Chennai, that every parent would like to get their kids into.
According to the school's admission procedure, we registered for admission for pre kg 1 year before (23july 2014). We waited for the call from them. Nothing happened. We approached the school in person many times. They said we will be called for face to face interaction.
But when we went there in March and enquired, they said the admissions for June 2015 was over. When asked about the no communication about admissions, they said my son was 2weeks behind the age criteria. My husband and I asked about admission criteria. No precise reply. The school doesn't allow parents beyond the office room. Only a lady in the front office answers all our queries. The school boasts about transparency in their policies but nothing in reality.
Again they said, your application will be considered for September 2015 admission and we will be called for interaction in August. Also an intimation will be sent by post around august end.
We got a letter from Abacus saying our application was 'REJECTED'. On what basis?...
Nothing.....It stated that there were large number of applicants so ours was rejected. My husband works in central government. Both of us our post graduates. We have only one son. My son is intelligent enough for pre kg. We are willing to pay the fee the school asks.
I still don't understand on what grounds our application was rejected. It is just ridiculous to reject even before being considered.
Where is fairness and justice. If you have a school, does it mean you can make and break your policies as you like. Then where is values that they talk about. What about Laws like Right to Education. My son was refused admission on no valid reason.
When we tried for admission through other sources, we came to know they admit only wards of big fat wealthy pockets, not for middle salaried class.
Hilters rule still prevails in our so called high esteemed schools. I wonder how the children from such environment will be able to appreciate equality. Really don't know where our education system is heading?
